10 years that every year we test this restaurant Great atmosphere, good food and finally the right staff to handle this nice place A MAJOR change in service compared with the previous years Don't change it now, it's the right team!
I went with my two daughters to La Cabane tonight after a day in the snow, so we were ravenous. We were taken care of by a wonderful staff, got a nice mise en bouche to wait for our food and a big basket of...fresh bread. The menu had the local specialties I could get an idea from the smell of raclette cheese wafting from the nearby tables. But I felt like meat anf asked for a filet de boeuf after double checking with the lovely waitress if the meat was tender, as I'm very picky with my meat. My daughters opted for the usual nuggets meal, but had a nice side dish of tasty veggies (very buttery said my oldest daughters engulfing the last of her string beans). I had a wonderful tarte tatin for dessert, and left with two very happy girls. The place is also very cozy, and welcoming. I definitely recommend La Cabane. Shall I add people showed up at 10pm for a raclette dinner? What a nice way to end a beautiful day in Val Thorens.
Local food is average. Service is slow and the waiters do not know the local dishes and how they should be served. For example they do not know that boiled potatoes come with raclette and not with fondue. A terrible cold air draft blows everywhere...and there are a few tables that are very unconfortable. On top of it, it is expensive. One of the worst price/quality ratio in Val Thorens. You better go elsewhere.
