Solid choice for Mexican food. Great margaritas and fajitas. Free ice cream for the kids after dinner.
Pretty good. Changitos is where it's at!!! Yum! Good flavor. Unique. Order all the time.
If you're looking for an upscale Mexican restaurant linen tablecloths, expensive ingredients and valet parking check out one of Chef Hugo Ortega's joints. If it's Tex Mex that you're jonesing for, Luna's might be your spot. I visited this location three times before writing this review, and on all three occasions, the service was efficient and polite; the place was clean; and the food came to the table as advertised. Luna's specializes in Tex Mex ... the stuff that made places like Ninfa's, El Chico, El Fenix and The Original (in Galveston) famous. For those of you who don't hail from these parts, the hallmark of a good Tex Mex joint is its red salsa. So long as it brings at least a little heat, is served cold and does not include cumin as one of its ingredients, it's legit. Luna's version fits that bill and its green table sauce (avocado based) is pretty good too. Enchiladas, chimichangas, crunchy tacos and fajitas are also Tex Mex norms, along with queso. Again, Luna's does a fine job on all of these. On my visits, everything was nicely seasoned and the cheese was exactly as it's supposed to be on tacos and in the enchiladas: good ol' American. Finally, when checking out some of the reviews for this location, I'm struck as to how they are on opposite ends of the spectrum because Luna's has been consistent in my view. And the manager here (Laura), has been spot on every time, including helping a new server take care of us during the most recent visit. Chances are if she (or any other manager) busts your chops, it's either because you are trying to get something for nothing, or you're drunk and belligerent. As for me, I'm planning to become a regular here.
We live in San Antonio, home to a ton of Tex Mex places, but we stumbled upon Luna's on a recent trip to the outlet mall in Texas City. I'm giving it 5 stars for three simple factors: 1. Atmosphere: It's got that vintage old-school feel to it. Comfy booths, nice wood interior and its got just the right amount of lighting. 2. Service: It was beyond great. Those servers work hard and they were very attentive even though there was a pretty big crowd. 3. I thought the food was excellent and had good portion sizes. Just my opinion, but there aren't a lot of ways to really mess up most Tex-Mex, unless its something complicated like Chile Rellenos. With that said, my Acapulco Plate and my wife's fajita chicken and shrimp were delicious. The grilled veggies put this way over. I don't know what they do different, but it just tasted better than most we've had. I can't stress enough how happy we were to find Luna's and we're already saving room for the next time ! Luna's is definitely
