La K-bane - Le Château-d'Oléron

The food was good but the service was extremely slow. We had to wait ages for every little thing: first the menus, then the bread, etc, and we ended up leaving before even getting the dessert menu (it was just so slow). I would not recommend for families.

So this place is highly recommended for seafood lovers and the oysters are apparently very good. However, on the hottest day of the year I reserved a table outside on the terrace overlooking the sea. I particularly requested this. Upon arrival, even though there were tables available outside or next to the open windows they would not allow us to sit on them and showed a complete lack of flexibility. We were not able to change our table which was in the hottest part of the restaurant next to the kitchen with no view. I was unable to sit inside in the heat and so had no choice but to wait outside whilst my children ate (they were very hungry). Interestingly the tables I mention that were free remained free all night. I was so upset that they ruined our last night on Ile D’Oleron because they couldn’t even try to accommodate us outside or at the table by the open window. What dreadful service! No apologies just a shrug! Therefore, however good the food is, however lovely the setting (I thought the views were overrated) this was completely ruined by the lack of hospitality and flexibility. Please see photos of empty tables in my photos below which was over an hour and a half after we arrived! They remained empty as we left. We won’t be coming back. I cannot say anything bad about the food to be fair though. The family said it was very good. What a shame!

Very tasty sea food restaurant! You won’t be disappointed. This is “the” restaurant to test at Chateau d’oleron. A lot of white wines (in glass). In addition, very modern entrance for a drink of after drink at the entrance with beautiful view on the bridge

Fabulous meal with amazing menu and friendly service. The desserts are totally incredible. Lovely location
