Layton Tavern

I have a summer home nearby and must have driven past The Layton Hotel Tavern a million times without realizing it was there. After seeing other people going in and out, I finally decided to stop in, and I'm so glad I did. The meals are fantastic, and even though I didn't try the pizza this time, it looked like amazing New York style. I'll definitely order it next time!

Food is always good and the atmosphere is comfy. A great local venue.

People had to wait over 20 minutes just to be seated, only to be told by a non-manager that the staff needed to catch up. Many left in disappointment. We took a seat at the bar and waited 15 minutes without being served. It felt awkward even inquiring about the beers on tap, and the response we received was more or less "what you see is what we have," which we couldn't even see. We had to ask multiple times for clarification and were met with snarky replies such as, “I’m busy.” The bartender was clearly occupied making drinks for others who had been waiting a long time. It took another 15 minutes to receive menus, and by that point, we decided to leave. The bartender checked in again another 10 minutes later, and when I mentioned we would just be ordering beers, he got visibly irritated. The check took another 10-15 minutes. We paid in cash because we were worried about waiting yet another 15 minutes for our card to be returned. Overall, it took nearly an hour just to drink a single beer from the time we arrived to when we left. What a terrible experience! The only positive aspect was that the beers were served in ice-cold glasses. After leaving, we went to a different restaurant where we enjoyed an equally cold beer within 2 minutes of entering and received our food within 25 minutes. We even spoke with several locals at the new place, and they confirmed that this level of service seems typical here. Pun intended.

It was hot as all anything inside. Good food great service at the bar and drinks are big.

Horrible experience! We gave this place a try a few times, the service is poor here! We generally will sit at the bars at a places like this, but here the bartender, who claims he is now the owner, It’s very uptight, displays anger, and horrible attitude! We walked out without ordering dinner.
