The Loft On Central Avenue - Laurel

We visited The Loft on a Tuesday early evening. We arrived at 5:00 when the restaurant opens. At that time a line was forming, but we had no problem securing a table. The menu has various steaks, seafood, chicken, and pasta dishes to choose from. I chose a rib eye steak and fried shrimp dinner, and my wife ordered grilled chicken. My wife really enjoyed her chicken. I found the steak to be quite flavorful and cooked as ordered. The shrimp was a nice addition, but the steak was the star. My wife's meal came with vegetables and mine came with a baked potato. I enjoyed the potato, although I would have preferred the skin to be crispy. The atmosphere at The Loft is nice, with dimmed lighting and rustic decor. Our server was excellent, refilling our beverages without prompting and checking on our table several times throughout our meal. Our experience at The Loft was positive and I would recommend it for people in the Laurel area looking for a nice meal in a casual setting.

Got to the loft on a Friday evening at 7 pm. We were able to get a table but took 1 1/2 hours before we got an appetizer and they were only fried mushrooms and fried oysters. Main course was a burger and po boy. I understand the slower pace as they were busy but that is unacceptable for this kind of wait. Entree came out overcooked ask for it to be returned and the burger was raw. So after two hours at the restaurant we had a baked potato, two appetizers and a sad shrimp po-boy for 56 dollars.

Took 10 minutes for server to realize that we were seated at one of her tables. Drinks were served and orders were taken. Salads were served but after bus boy took empty plates, server couldn't remember if she'd given us our salads. Entrees were served and never saw the server again until we requested our bill from the host. I ordered a potato casserole and got a baked potato instead. We did get our drinks refilled. After server took our money, she shorted our change by almost two dollars. Great food but inadequate service.

This restaurant is incredible! You have the choice of dining inside or outside. We chose to sit outside and the atmosphere was cozy. The food is mouth watering too. I will definitely come back the next time I'm in Laurel. Service: Dine in Meal type: Dinner Price per person: $50–100
