Peppers New Mexican Cafe - Las Cruces

As a restaurant professional who has worked fine dining with celebrity chefs this place is a disaster. The host is awful. Service non existent. In fact never even got to try the food. The place was not busy. Please do not mix this up with Double Eagle. If they are truly connected they need a divorce for the sake of reputation. The staff should go work at Target or somewhere else. The atmosphere is nice, but you have to try very hard to merit under 3.9 stars but I must say the low star count is merited and well deserved. People in NM according to reviews won’t tolerate this neither will people moving from all over the country that know good service standards. In 25 years I have walked out of probably 3 restaurants this being the third. The saving grace is the decoration, close this down and give it to another that can bolster the reputation of the area.

Connected to the Double Eagles this is a great place to hit up the bar and if you aren’t into the fine dining experience you can still get good food in the middle plaza. The Sangrias were good, the calamari was good, the green chile chicken Alfredo was good per my wife but she said it needed a little dash of salt. I had the lobster gnocchi’s, which were good, but definitely needed a little lemon zest but for sure some fresh chopped basil or an herb on it as it was one note and rich. As you see in the picture it was very “grey” looking and needed some life to it. We sat down quick, served quick, and were in and out in 35 minutes, exactly what we were actually looking for.

Terrible service and lousy food. While we waited a long time for food, the waiter never came by to refill water or drinks. After food was served, waiter never came around. Waiter could not be found anywhere. The food was waaaay overpriced for the quality. The meat was rubbery and the beans tasted canned. The red and green chile? Forget about it. Tasteless and lame. Total disappointment.

Food is bland. The red posole smelled and tasted like it was right out of a can. The service was terrible. The waiter came by our table 4 times in 90 minutes. We had to go ourselves to get a pitcher of water to refill.

Food was bland , my margarita didn’t have any tequila just lime juice. Very overpriced of the 6 of us at the table only 2 people said it was Ok smh. Never again. My steak was rubbery I had to fight to cut through every piece
