Bistro de L'Anse - L'ANSE-SAINT-JEAN

Our family arrived here one rainy evening in search of a nice dinner. We were met with the sound of live music and a friendly Bonjour. The staff said they were booked for reservations, but if we could eat sooner than 7:30, they could find us a table. The have a nice outdoor seating area, but as the rain wasn't letting up, they tucked us in nicely under the covered porch. The staff spoke both French and English, which was really nice as our French is pretty rusty. The food was incredible, locally sourced for the most part, and the wine was delicious. Staff was very friendly and didn't seemed rushed if you had a few questions on the area. The view over the Fjord was incredible! Anyone traveling in the area, go check this little gem out, you won't be disappointed.

We spent a week in l'Anse St Jean and went to the Bistro twice for lunch. We ate on the terrace and the gallery to enjoy the lovely view on the bay and the garden. The place is a typical family one or 'friends gathering' spot - the first time when we got there, a group of young travellers were playing cards and having a drink, so a very relaxed and friendly atmosphere. The menu is original, tasty and varied, staff very friendly and helpful to accommodate our allergic daughter's dietary constraints. We would return with no hesitation if we traveled to the Saguenay again.

The vegetarian burger (quinoa and red bean) is one of the best I've eaten, the salads were just as I like....fresh, with sprouts and seeds!! A real little gem of a place, great views, relaxed, pleasant staff.....and the local micro-brewery beers were a treat. We went back for a repeat two days later....just as good. Make sure you reserve a table in the summer, it's often booked out.

When food is better than the view which is better than service and when service is oustanding than you know you are at the bistro de l'anse! A place not to be missed!

My wife and I made reservations before coming to Quebec.. The owner gave us a table outside,, on the porch which was great.. There was a breakdown in communication between our waitress and me..I thoughtt I ordered one selection, and she brought another.. However, the dish delivered was tasty, just not what i ordered. My wife had soup of the day which was mediocre. However, we shared a great salad. Overall, i would recommend .
