We went there for afternoon tea, the sandwiches and cakes were delicious,and the service was excellent and the view from the hotel was fabulous. We didn't have a room because we weren't staying, but I'm sure they were very nice. Service: 5 Location: 5 Hotel highlights: Great view, Quiet

As for nearby activities, we recommend skipping the steam railway. It costs £35.10 per person for a round trip on a 12-mile journey—completely overpriced. We decided to turn back when we saw the prices. You could even upgrade to first class for an extra £16 each, but that felt ridiculous.
