Pizza Express - Lambeth

The first time back here for a long time service good pizza porchetta very good definitiw will be back.

A late November cold Saturday lunchtime. Grandparents' treat for a 3 year and a 5 year old. Very busy. Seated at the rear right next to what was once an entrance with cold air coming in around an unsealed door. Brrrr. Restaurant extremely understaffed. Big...push to get us to place an early order and then basically ignored. Asked for water twice, which eventually arrived shortly before we left. Along with the children's meals we ordered a leggera pizza a charred ultra ultra thin base with a large hole cut out of the middle and covered with limp lettuce. The cook explained this is done to get it below 600 calories! Awful pizza. Waste of money. The children's food was good. However, their mum asked us later whether they had enjoyed their bambinoccinos sorry? What bambinoccinos? Although apparently included in the menus, they were never brought. Disappointing.

Three of us ate there last week while visiting friends in nearby Brixton. We ordered Vegan Mezze and two other pizzas which arrived quite quickly. The pizzas missed the spot as they were all slightly undercooked. We were too hungry to complain. Some PEs areconsistently...excellent but this one failed to make the grade sadly

This review the 2 stars are for the waiting staff &chefs who did a great job unfortunately same can't be the said of the manager this guy makes basil fawlty look great basil would be proud. Came in on a wet Friday evening got seated...straight away a few minutes later (basil)the manager comes over takes my order then disappears. Few mins later one of the nice waiting staff who has been here for a long time asked why I was sitting at table for so long Without an order. So I explained I had ordered with this guy (basil)my nickname for him . She then goes to find him &he had obviously forgotten my order then she brought my glass of red over was just about to take a sip &suddenly (basil)reappeared &swiftly &quite rude I may add removes the glass from my hand saying waitress served wrong wine not her fault as that's what he told her to serve he then ordered her over to where he was and berated her in front of all to see not professional. To make it even more comedic he then came over to me while talking on his phone &asked me what I had ordered again pure fawlty towers can't believe this would happen in a restaurant chain like this . Feel sorry for the staff that have this imbecile as their boss. May not go back while this guy is in charge. He did however discount my starter but nothing can make up for his shocking &diabolical service.

I was not impressed with the quality of service and food when I placed a take away order. The Pizzaz was not as tasty as I expected compared to another franchise near me.
