The Upper Crust - Lakewood

I love this place. It’s the perfect balance of fine dining and casual. The portions are generous and mostly delicious. I removed one star bc they started asking for a tip on top of the 18% gratuity they already charge, leaving you with the only other option of clicking no tip. Which isn’t true after tipping the already mandated amount. It just feels underhanded.

Our party of four met here for a kosher dairy lunch. The place is nice with plenty of seating and the staff is attentive and helpful.We ordered a Fettuccine Alfredo, a truffle grilled cheese, a blackened salmon sandwich and an eggplant Parmesan on a bed of pasta.We heard their pizza is good, but we weren't in the mood for pizza.The fettuccine was nice as was the truffle grilled cheese.I was told the blackened salmon was missing that little bit of spice usually found with a blackened dish.The eggplant Parmesan contained ricotta cheese between the slices which we were okay with, but the eggplant breading was a little overdone.For us, this place seems hit or miss and we're thinking we should have tried the pizza since that was a more popular dish. Maybe we'll get back there to try the pizza.

Upper Crust on Kennedy Blvd. in Lakewood, N.J. is a pleasant restaurant experience. I had a delicious lunch of vegetable soup and a mushroom burger. I decided to rest and have lunch at Upper Crust after a walk and before shopping at the Glatt Mart Plaza mall. I found it a pleasant atmosphere in which to eat, relax catch up with texts before continuing my outing. I look forward to my next meal at Upper Crust!
