It was spontaneous. We saw it on Google Maps so decided to check another winery after the sensation that was Gray Monk. We locked in another location and turned righ—whoa. That is not a winery. That’s a mistake; it’s actually a left and up the road. Ten months later, we visited the same winery and found the same strange bug on our navigator. But don’t worry, it’s not you. Blind Tiger does exist, although they may not see you. GET IT! The name refers to the false fronts used in prohibition days. Original. And there is also a dog. He’s not blind, but he doesn’t really care for anyone that enters. Blind Tiger is another small winery, though (I’m not sure it’s estate) where the owners live around the corner, and more often than not, you’re talking to the winemakers directly at some point during your visit. The tasting room is minuscule, but I’ve never felt crowded in there. On both visits, their wood fire pizza truck on site was closed, depressing. The view from the hill was spectacular…it must be a requirement. One is not allowed to open a winery without an amazing view. Maybe there’s a review, like a Rotten Tomato score for outlooks. In this case, Blind Tiger’s is certified fresh. As for the wine’s, they cover a broad spectrum from Chards and Gews (I’m totally using that from now on) to Pinots and their signature Speakeasy Red. Being the weirdo like I am, I bought their “Hush Up” Blush, a fantastic rose. It was one of the 120 bottles we acquired from 60 wineries visited over a one week period, taking us from Osoyoos to Kelowna. Blind Tiger must have made an impression given it was on a short list of wineries to revisit on the second trip. Blind Tiger may not boast the viticulture monuments of nearby Grey Owl or Arrowleaf. They are modest, almost inconspicuous, and worth our two visits, as well as yours.Oh, and it may not be an important factor, but obviously it’s worth mentioning that on said second visit, there was an incubator filled with adorable baby chickens. I do mean adorable. And did I mention they were baby chickens?
Was amazing to enjoy a gourmet thin crust pizza with fresh locally sourced products. Morgan was so friendly and knowledgable on both food and wine. The pizzas are made so fast, and can be customized to what you like :) can't wait to have another marnos pizza!!!
Quirky and yet comfortable; here's a winery with very interesting character and some darn fine wines: especially the Speakeasy Red. Good wine education and friendly, unpretentious service. One of our favorite places to visit in Lake Country...
Fabulous wine, at a small vineyard in the lake country. Knowledgable and humble owner made for a lovely wine tasting.
