Ravintola Kommodori - Lahti

This restaurant is a beautiful place to visit with good food, a nice atmosphere, and excellent service. The menu is very versatile, offering options for those with small or big appetites. You can also rent a large sauna at a cost-efficient price. The bar is also awesome!

The restaurant itself is housed in a historic wooden pavilion built in 1910 in Art Nouveau style. Possibly the oldest lake pavilion in Finland, the site also holds significance as viking graves dating back to the Iron Age were discovered during its construction. The island boasts a variety of interesting trees and plants. Guests can choose to dine inside the pavilion or on a charming summer terrace with a beautiful lake view. The menu offers a wide range of options including fish soup, toast skagen, local fish, salmon, octopus, entrecôte, chicken, falafel, burgers, and both savory and sweet waffles. A children's menu is also available, and guests are welcome to enjoy just a waffle or ice cream if they prefer. Additionally, visitors can rent a SUP board or book a session in the sauna. A yacht club on the island means there are often interesting activities happening nearby, making this the most intriguing summer restaurant in the Lahti region.

The restaurant provided a fantastic ambiance and delicious food. The menu had a great selection of options to choose from. Both the wings and salmon were particularly delicious. Additionally, we were thoroughly entertained by the musician performing during our meal.

The dining experience was average, although not as good as it used to be. It appears that the recipe for the waffles has been altered. Additionally, we had to wait for our food (two small portions) for an hour without any notification of when we placed our order. This is not the first time I have encountered slow service at this establishment. It seems that there is a shortage of staff currently, so I cannot recommend this place unless you have all day to wait.

The waffles for dessert were absolutely delicious and beautifully presented! Additionally, the staff was exceptionally friendly and pleasant.
