Marquis Tavern - Lafayette

Had dinner there for the 1st time this past Saturday and it was great. For apps we had the calamari and wings, both very flavorful. For dinner we had crab cakes and lobster ravioli which were delicious. The service was good and we'd definitely go back.

Great friendly service, good size portions and creative drink specials in a cozy pub-like atmosphere. Homey feeling that's casual and comfortable. V nice. Prices could be slightly better.

I really think their food is a 4/5 but there service is painfully slow and I would love to see the wait staff smile. Just once. They have a solid selection of live musicians on Friday and Saturday nights. We haven't had the brunch. But enjoy the tavern side as it is more comfy and cozy. Some upgrades to their wines by the glass desperately needed.

The Lafayette House used to be THE place to go for brunch. Since its heyday in the late 80 's and 90 's it has gone downhill a bit. The bad: Most of the chafing dish options were room temperature as was the carving station beef. Bagels were hard and no slicer in sight. Omelette station was sloppy, eggs were greasy, and the chef wasn 't paying attention to the orders. The good: The smoked salmon/lox was fabulous. The Chicken Santa Fe was tasty (if tepid) and the waffles and cheesecake were very good. Waitstaff was very friendly and attentive the all you can drink boozy brunch (add $10 to your brunch tab and get unlimited **** Mary 's and Mimosas) was cool I had 3 very good **** Mary 's. Dining room was large and well kept. Restrooms were clean and well kept. All things being equal this used to be a 4 5 star brunch. Not so much anymore.

Went to eat here on 7/12/18 as a party of 6. Went up to the bar where I met one of the rudest bar maids. Was told I was standing in someone else's place even though no one else was there. Tried to explain I just wanted to order a round of drinks and I was not staying at the bar. Barmaid just rolled her eyes. She even gave the same bad attitude to my 74 year old grandmother who came up to the bar for her tonic water. This I can forgive. However I overheard her berating us to other customers at the bar which is totally unprofessional. It's such a shame. The food and other staff were quite good. As I value good service I would not recommend.
