I'm so glad that I cam here with some friends. I've heard about this place from other yelpers because we attempted to stop by here for a drink but they were close when we arrived. Mondays Finally stopped by here after we ate at another restaurant for a quick night cap. I wish we ate here instead. : The menu looked really good and I'm glad that we did get to taste the sticky rice and lao jerky. The sticky rice as on point and it went so well with the lao jerky. Great in flavor and not tough like some other jerkys. Our servers' name was Doris and she was so pleasant, helpful and nice. She gave us the background of the restaurants name SOHO. And no, the name SOHO has no relation to New York City. My friends all come here to drink from time to time and they love the atmosphere and vibe. There's also a DJ on the weekends. : That's a plus. I only hangout with friends who drink-LOL Definitely a place to return to and check out the weekend fun but most especially a place to return to eat some delicious food.
I came here with my friend on a Saturday night around 6pm) and the place was empty, aside from the couple of workers. My friend and I came in for some food, and my friend ended up ordering a whiskey sour happy hour 20% off drinks from 6 7). The menu had some great options and I absolutely loved the asian fusion menu items. The food sounded great but for what it was, the food was pretty pricey. My friend and I ordered the SOHO Fries $14), the banh mi sliders $11), and the korean wings $12) to share. SOHO Fries 3/5) This plate had fries, tater tots, curly fries, bulgogi, cheese on it. It was pretty tasty, but definitely not worth $14! There wasn 't a lot of bulgogi on the fries, the fries/tots were all stuck together, and although it was good, I know I could have made this at home for much cheaper. Banh Mi Sliders 2.5/5) I 'm Vietnamese and a true lover of all things banh mi, so I loved this mash up of foods. The sliders were decent, but really, we were served 3 tiny sliders that had unseasoned patties and what made it a banh mi was the pickled carrots, jalapeno, and cilantro they also threw in some pickled onions on top. It was okay in taste, but definitely would not order again. Korean Wings 2/5) These were not wings at all, they were DRUMSTICKS. I was so shocked when they came out with these. The drumsticks were huge and I was expecting and obviously in the mood for wings, not chicken legs. The outside of the chicken was good though, but what really threw me off was that one of the drumsticks I was about to eat was UNCOOKED. Yes, it was raw. I regret not complaining about it, but we were almost done with our food anyways so I ended up just paying and leaving. The workers were friendly, although it did take a while for the food to come out even though we were the only people there. This place is cool and has decent food, but I just don 't see myself returning when there are just better and more inexpensive foods out in Convoy. Parking lot is also terribly tiny, so you better start looking for parking in another lot.
I can 't begin to tell you how many times SOHO has rescued my beleaguered colleagues and myself from certain death... and nope, I 'm not exaggerating! Literally escaping work at some of the lowest points in our work week life, amid awful hours, frantically Yelping for a place that would provide us with 3 necessities to recoup and survive the next day: 1) Life elixir (Websters Dictionary defines this as alcohol) 2) Lower food chain (British Britannica covers the food pyramid, with fries, animals, and other finger foods among this category) 3) Vibes (Google provides images for 'turnt ' and 'chill ' variations) .. SOHO provides them all. As the group has tried literally everything with no complaints, I 'd strongly suggest everything you lay your eyes on in the menu be wary of food allergies! Even if you have one, speak up and they 'll accommodate you. Definitely recommend!
SOHO, previously known as Nolbu, is somewhat of an Asian fusion restaurant because although it 's Korean, Chinese, Thai food, I sense a little Mexican inspiration. Especially considering green hot sauce was one of the sauces given, as well as pico de gallo being a topper for one of their dishes. I had a rather disappointing experience here last night with my best friend, but I 'm being friendly and giving them 3 stars as opposed to 2, for the effort. I 've been here once before when it had just been changed to SOHO, and it was alright. I liked the soju, and I don 't even remember the food. I come back a year or so later, and I feel as if a lot has changed--there was a DJ (unless that 's specific to some nights, but still), it was more spacious, the menu changed, and there was NO MORE SOJU. My best friend and I wanted to share that popular drink with the alcohol in a watermelon, but they didn 't have it. So, I asked if they had soju, and they didn 't have any either. I was pretty bummed because I remember them having soju before. I wanted to leave at that moment, but I decided to give this place a chance. Our waitress was inattentive. I guess the fact that we were hidden away in the back made it hard for her to remember us, but she wasn 't a very good waitress to begin with. She wasn 't able to multitask, and was very slow. Our alcohol took longer than the food, which took a little while also. She told us things like, I 'm sorry the drinks took forever, I accidentally dropped one. And she told us she would give us the bill, go to the table next to us and ignore us, then come back 15 minutes later asking if we got our bill yet. Also, I say she can 't multitask because she prioritized other tables over us and mentioned that she would Pour drinks for a table, then come back for the bill or Take the order of a table, then come back for the bill. She had a lot of excuses. It was just not good customer service, but luckily my best friend and I were enjoying each others ' company or I would 've been annoyed. We ordered their calamari appetizer and bulgogi/spicy pork fries, along with strawberry mango mojitos. The calamari was good, and reminiscent of salted pepper calamari from Royal Mandarin. When we ordered the fries, we asked for no pico de gallo on top, and after waiting about 15-20 minutes, we get the fries with pico de gallo on top. I told the person giving it to us that we asked for no pico, so after a little of back and forth of, we can remake them and no, it 's okay they ended up giving us a new batch. I 'm assuming they just scraped it off because they literally came back a minute later, and the fries now had a lot of cheese on top. The other waiter told us, We added extra cheese for you guys but I imagine it to just cover up the scraping of the pico. Regardless, the fries were good, but I stopped eating them after a little while because the fries started getting soggy and it was just an overwhelming taste of sweetness (from the meat) in my mouth. I really liked the tater tots, though, but on its own. The spicy mayo (I think it was) was pretty good. I must admit, the mojitos were pretty strong, and my friend and I couldn 't taste the strawberry or mango in it. My favorite part of it was the strawberry that was cut into the shape of a rose.
