The ambience is fun and enjoyable. This restaurant is a welcome change to the old hum drum of continental styles. The food is outstanding. The spicy Ramen is the best I have had.

Eating House 1849 is a good restaurant to have a nice meal on Kauai. My issue is as a regular, there just aren 't 'daily specials ' so I have a limited menu. My favorite is the hotpot with the butterfish. I have been eating in Roy Hamaguchi 's Restaurants since 1995 and will go again. I just would like more options.

Great suggestions from our server. Complete meal was excellent. Short Ribs and Butterfish Kamameshi were outstanding!
