I have eaten at their restaurant and also ordered from their cafe. They also sell vegan essentials range of plant based Mayos, hummus, plantmylk, tofu etc. Their plant protein recipes are amazing. I also like their range of cooking from Thai to Bengali dishes. Everything is awesome! The furniture is made from upcycled wood. The people are also crazy nice!
Ever since I turned Vegan, I thought I would have to give up on my favourite biriyani. Ubuntu Cafe is a living heaven for both vegans and non vegetarians given its extensive menu. I had my unmutton dum biryani from here and was happily shocked to find out it tastes exactly like mutton biriyani, I kid you not! This is the best and my favourite from the menu. You have to pre order for a certain number of plates else can go for the biryani combos they make from time to time. Message them on insta and they will inform you. This biryani is a must have and the unmutton pieces are to die for. I also loved their gajar ka halwa and tender yet flavourful 'puneer ' kebab. Available for both dine in (opposite south city) and takeaway, their packaging is eco-friendly and comes with lovely hand written notes. I have not seen such an extensive menu for any Kolkata restaurant honestly and let alone a vegan one. Ubuntu is a wonderful community of environmentalists, animal lovers, kind fellow beings. It is a wonderful initiative for the animals and the environment, without compromising on the taste buds. I have a list of items in yet to try like their Thai cuisine, roll, sorshe fish, whole-wheat glutten free pizza, Chinese mock meat dishes and of course vegan brownies. Shreya is a passionate and amazing chef. The warmth of the team is palpable. One can also get many vegan supplies here. They have plenty of healthy bowls and smoothies for health freaks too. They are coming up with more additions to their already extensive menu and I 'm dying to try their Indonesian offerings. May update this later when I try the rest.
Ubuntu cafe is the first and only vegan cafe in kolkata! A cafe not just for food but for thought! Sustainability is the key, where they make food with love taking utmost care of the environment and your health! I never imagined that fysh fry without fish and unmutton pizza without mutton can be so good!!Get the taste of meat(plant based) and the goodness of nature at the same time! The cafe has a beautiful story and some good vibes!
Whoever saves one life, saves the world, entire.. ~Schindler 's List Ubuntu is just not a cafe, it 's an emotion (food is emotion, afterall! Starting straightaway with the food, would love to highlight my absolute favorites first: -Kosha Mangsho -Chycken cheeze roll -Neat roll -Tofu Butter Masala -Unmutton/Neat Pizza -Spaghetti Pesto (with Grilled Salamy -Brownie -Cheezecake Special mention: The cheeze being used, is bound to put any dairy cheese to shame (hands down . Next, The Set-up: Ubuntu makes sure it leaves no stone unturned to be the most eco-friendly and sustainable cafe in town! Starting from the furnitures down to even the straws and napkin holders, everything is either recycled, recyclable or biodegradable to the least. (They even take care of the composting. The wall arts are something to look out for as well. Last but not the least, The lovely hosts: Abhinav, Vikash and Shreya. Well, you guys extend the place way beyond just a cafe! The beautiful story-telling accompanied with the other insightful and fun 'gup-shups ' make it an experience worth enjoying times, innumerable. I had my first year veganniversary celebrated at this place. It couldn 't have been more special!
