Big Al's Take Bake - Kodiak

The restaurant is closed on Saturdays and Sundays, and this week they've also been closed on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday. In the past month, I've only managed to get one sub sandwich from them. I'm really not sure how they plan to stay in business if they are consistently unavailable for takeout orders.

Needless to say, it went straight into the trash. I don’t know what’s changed, but they used to make a decent pizza. The last two pizzas I ordered were also made incorrectly and the crust is consistently soggy. If you’re thinking of spending twenty bucks here, you might as well just throw it away. It’s another restaurant I’ll be crossing off my list in Kodiak.

While shopping at Cost Savers here on Kodiak Island, we stumbled upon this hidden gem in the back (we're not locals). With our hunger piqued, we were in the mood for a sandwich or salad, and to our delight, they offered both! We each opted for a lunch special featuring a half sub and a side salad, choosing the turkey club with a Greek salad. The sandwich was fantastic, loaded with thick slices of turkey on fresh bread, and all the veggies were incredibly fresh. Normally, I would need mayonnaise for this kind of sandwich, but it tasted perfect as is. The Greek salad was equally impressive, packed with plenty of feta and olives. We will definitely be back during our visit!

Very good priced food, hot dogs and corn dogs for $1.39

Best pizza on the island! They load up on toppings at a reasonable price. It’s nice to have the choice to have it baked there or at home! Also the Caesar salad dressing is very tasty. Friendly and quick service!
