Girls had burgers and were really happy big portions left no one hungry, especially the bacon on burgers was appriciated. Me and my wife had grilled meat with bearnaise and fries. Meat was perfect in all ways. But the bearnaise didn't taste much and no sallad even though we asked fot it. Drinks before was strong and delicious, Mojito and Mango Mojito. A good place for good fod but a bit to expensive, the meat was really good, but not that good. Waiters and staff very great a really friendly and relaxed place.
Only stopped by for happy hour drinks during the sunset, but they were great, and what a view! Food looked good too. Only cash, though, no credit card or bank transfer possible.
Great Swedish meatballs and Toast Skaggan. Wagyu burger that everyone raves about is a different story. Style is “smash burger” which was invented to save money by cutting the amount of meat and saving time. Taste was like any other burger but way overpriced. And the bun was clearly store bought four days ago which ruined it totally. Fries were good. Beer was not cold. I think there’s way too many people too far removed from real western food on Thailand to understand and appreciate that it’s almost always just OK. We live in Thailand to eat mostly Thai food which is cheaper, fresher and tastier Rest of the menu? Ribeye for 790? Seriously? We buy two fresh cut Australian ribeyes at Rimping in Chiang Mai where we live and cook them at home for about 550. Same goes for the salmon. Lots of nice views everywhere on Koh Lanta so Unless you’re jonesing for the two Swedish options or like to look at the Swedish hotties, skip this place and eat somewhere cheaper.
If you aren’t Scandinavian, bring an extra-abundance of patience. The drinks are average, the view is stellar, but the service (at least for us non-Swedes) was very poor. We came here twice during our stay and felt neglected both times. Definitely a different vibe than the rest of the little seaside restaurants and our worst experience in Lanta.
“Absolute magnificent! Coconut Grove restaurant at Ko Lanta” Ko Lanta may surprise you. You will get food of highly variable quality, with subsequent stomach problems, even at the finest hotels. Therefore it is important to know about the places where you can both safe and delicious food. We found this at COCONUT GROVE (254 Moo 8 Klong Tob) in Coconut Bay, near the hotel MOONLIGHT Exotic Bay Resort. For my wife and me, it was a great relief to find this nice resturant after suffering stomach problems ...The menu at the Coconut Grove is extensive. We recommend the exquisite Australian steak. You can get fries or mashed potatoes. Mashed potatoes are an excellent addition to the dishes such as the fish and steak. The steak is served with a lovely bearnaise sauce. The Fish Ships is also recommended, and what is even more impressive is that the fish is imported from the Arctic. Lovely food, and again I highly recommend the mashed potatoes ... The hosts at COCONUT GROVE are Susanne and Gunnar Laurin. They are from Sweden, which means that the menu also have Meatballs. For Swedish IKEA a world success ... and we noted: The burger is homemade. It is really impressive that they even serve a homemade wagyu hamburger the American way, so far from America ...Coconut Grove Restaurant offers a cozy and pleasant environment and there is also thai food on the menu. We recommend this Restaurant.
