However the location is lovely, the cabins are luxe and the restaurant is a real bargain. You just have to be willing to chase people down. They are very accommodating and it's a great base for visiting Crater Lake.
We walked in and there was no help to be found. We only wanted a beverage from the bar. Waited for awhile and know one showed up. Went into the restaurant area and tried to find someone to help us. Finally found someone running around like a chicken with their head cut off and asked if we could get a beer from the bar. She was obviously overwhelmed and stated she was the waitress, bar tender and cook and the only one there. Needless to say, I felt really bad for her. I'm just saddened to see this nice place being run into the ground from lack of help. Otherwise, it's a beautiful place.
One word to describe our visit is WOW. We rented a pontoon boat to go fishing. The hospitality and service was over the charts. John helped put us on the fish with a map where we caught two HOGS! Hooked us up with tackle, binoculars to see the eagles, and worms. The service, and care to make sure we had the time of our lives is definitely there. They also have the best rates in town. We had so much fun we're going out again tomorrow!! Update! Day two was spectacular! Hit our limit and bring some nice filets home to California. John knew the fishing holes we were at and surprised us with breakfast burritos for the three of us. I'm legit amazed by his kindness. I 100% support this business and will continue to when we come back!
We took a day trip and visited this place because my husband used to go fishing here in his youth. It happened to be the first day for the bar and restaurant to open for the season. It was once a beautiful resort, but the years have taken a toll. They are looking to hire help. The food was reasonably priced, the service was friendly, but the gal was one person trying to do it all. This is a beautiful location and the scenery was worth the drive.
The owner, John, is incredibly kind and helpful, going above and beyond to assist with anything you might need during your stay at the resort. I would rate him a perfect 100/100. The location is a cold spring inlet on Klamath Lake, which means you are just a short distance from prime fishing spots. Just remember to bring your patience when you dine here.
