The Eden Emporium - Kirkby Stephen

This restaurant has outrageous prices. They charged £5.50 for a large battered sausage and chips, and £3.50 for two cans of coke. I strongly advise avoiding this place as the food quality is terrible. If you're looking for food, head to the Spar down the road instead. The service is takeout and the meal type is dinner, with prices ranging from £1 to £10 per person.

I met up with friends in Kirkby Stephen and we decided to have fish and chips for lunch at the Horse Shoe restaurant, which we had been to before. Unfortunately, it turned out to be a mistake as it was the worst fish and chips I have ever had. The batter tasted awful and the chips were greasy. Additionally, the staff were ignorant. We requested to sit in the restaurant part due to having a child in a pushchair, but we were refused because they claimed they didn't have enough staff. I noticed that the premises are up for sale and I hope that the new owner can improve the reputation of this restaurant after the previous owner's mishaps.

We decided to dine in due to the poor weather, but we regretted that choice. Despite there being a few people seated, the dining area was blocked off with chairs. After asking, we were reluctantly allowed to sit down. We ordered fish and chips for two, which were small portions and a bit pricey. However, what bothered us more was the indifferent attitude of the staff. They did not check on the quality of our meal and only seemed interested in getting immediate payment once the plates were placed in front of us. We noticed that the business is up for sale, which may explain their lack of customer care. We would not recommend eating here and wish we had read previous reviews before choosing this restaurant.

I ordered 2 large battered sausages and chips but when I got home I got 2 small sausages! I thought my order was correct hence the price but was very annoyed to find its just expensive. Portion size was rather small and wasn't keen on the batter either. I advise anyone looking for a decent takeaway to avoid this place.

Very low quality for a high price. Do not recommend at all.
