Megalo's Restaurants - Kingston

We stopped through Kingston on a Saturday night on the way home from a road trip.

I have no complaints! I really truly enjoyed trying Megalos for my very first time.

I can only report on a lunch-time experience but based on that, and the menu, I would have to say there's another pretty good restaurant in Kingston that can rival the long-standing 'go-to' places farther down Princess Street. I was with a group of about 12 and we sat on the new patio which, like nearly all Princess Street eateries, is unfortunately squeezed between the store front and street, on the sidewalk. But it was a nice day and an enjoyable lunch. Naturally with 12 people there were a variety of dishes. I had the chicken wrap with house salad and, yes, you can get it just about anywhere but this particular wrap was put together with somewhat different ingredients and very tasty. Affordable at $12. No one was disappointed with their meal, in fact they were very happy. Prices were good and portions generous. I have to point out that the service was exceptional. Very attentive and spot on. So, based on what I experienced, dinner at Megalo's is certainly "on the table'. Ha!

My oldest daughter is celiac so we always pick restaurants based on what she can safely eat. Megalo's was very careful to ensure that her meal was safe and all of our food was excellent. The mushroom bruschetta on gluten-free bread was garlicky and delicious. The coq au vin was very tasty and the salmon with ratatouille and rice was outstanding. My husband upgraded his fries to poutine with his burger and the curds were nice and melty and the gravy was quite tasty too. My picky eater had plain pasta and a huge side order of fries (not a healthy choice but there you go) and they didn't charge us an arm and leg. Some places have charged me full price for whatever pasta dish they offer even though they are just bringing out pasta and butter). Would definitely return.
