Bank House

After many great visits in the past probably no more. Got our order wrong, over charged, and food was thrown together it felt like they really don't care. Such a shame as a great place sadly let down by some staff.

Me and my family decided to have a meal at the bank house as we saw on Instagram they had a Prix Fixe Menu and we are currently on holiday in Kings Lynn. We had a lovely meal at the bank house last year and when we saw the menu of 2 course for £16 and 3 courses for £20 advertised, we thought this was such a good deal! However, we arrived at the Bank House and when seated we’re only given the normal menu. I then asked the waitress if we could have the Prix Fixe Menu. The waitress then said we don’t do that and a lot of people have been asking about that. I then said to the waitress that it was posted on their instagram six days ago and then reposted two days ago. The waitress then said oh I don’t think it’s on today and I then mentioned how it said that it’s from Monday to Friday from 12pm to 6pm. The waitress then said she will go and ask the manger. They then came back and said that it shouldn’t have been posted yet due to issues with the chef and said they we won’t be offended if we leave. We decided to look at the menu but then left to eat somewhere else after feeling disappointed. I do feel that they should remove the posts advertising for the Prix Fixe Menu (on Instagram and I presume on Facebook too) as it could encourage people to book but then to found out it doesn’t actually exist and may be too embarrassed to leave. Also this is a bit unfair on people who may be on a budget who are looking for a nice meal as a family treat. Hopefully they can sort this issue out as it would’ve been lovely to try this menu, but it should be taken down as it is still posted on instagram.

Discovered this gem today for coffee. How we have not seen it before on our trips to Kings Lynn I don’t know! Friendly staff, great coffee The property is beautifully and tastefully decorated maintaining several original features. Sadly we couldn’t stay for food today but are already planning a proper visit in the summer to stay and eat, Thankyou

Went here for Sunday lunch whilst on holiday in Hunstanton. Had a lovely meal although service could have been a bit better, being totally ignored by the dizzy waitress, we did actually enjoy our lunch, went back the following day and had another great lunch, this time service was much better. We will be back. Just like to add that I have had many a brilliant dessert on my frequent restaurant travels but the Pineapple one I had on Sunday (only 2 options, bit bad) was the WORST I have ever tasted and for £6.50 was disgraceful, not even fresh pineapple. Did mention to the supervisor and he was going it to mention to the chef.

Booked celebration afternoon tea for wedding anniversary. Was nice but Unfortunately wasn’t the best we have had. On arrival taken to table area to be then told our table wasn’t set up so we returned to bar area to wait. Within two minutes then told our table was ready. Sat next to what looked like an unsightly dusty machine with cobwebs in alcove, the rest of area was clean.Our waitress brought our Prosecco to the table, we were expecting one glass each, but the bottle was left with us in an ice bucket, initially thought that was a nice gesture as it was our anniversary I informed them at the time of booking). However was very short lived as this was removed quickly by another staff member as he ‘didn’t think we would want an unexpected £20 added to the bill. True)The tea was nice, but the two scones one fruit and one cheese were small and slightly hard. Strange to have jam and cream on a cheese scone!! No small desert as we have had on other afternoon teas. We had a nice time, but not sure we would returnI believe our waitress was new to the job, but she was very ‘bubbly and friendly’
