When we were finally seated, we realized that the decorative pieces around the table prevented us from pulling in our chairs properly. After some struggle, we managed to make ourselves comfortable. However, communicating the issue to the waitresses, who did not speak English well, was a challenge. It took half an hour to place our drink orders, and our food order was not even taken by that time. It took two hours for the appetizers to arrive, and they were served cold. The service was poor, with untrained staff who seemed clueless about the menu and failed to address our concerns about the food temperature. The dishes were eventually reheated in the microwave, but the quality was still subpar. The seafood dishes were overcooked and rubbery, and the excessive use of garlic was overwhelming. The restroom confusion and lack of attentiveness to our group's needs further added to our disappointment. We spent almost five hours at the restaurant, and the experience left much to be desired. I would not recommend dining here, as the service was the worst I have ever encountered and the food quality was mediocre at best. I only give it a rating because I have to, but it deserves a zero.
Yu Xi Elite is probably the worst dining experience I have ever had in a Chinese restaurant in over 40 years of dining out. We used a discount voucher, which may have influenced our experience, but that should not excuse the poor quality of food and service. We tried to order several dishes, only to be told they were either unavailable or excluded from the offer, even though the voucher did not specify this. The dishes we did receive were inedible, cold, and completely different from what was described on the menu. The service was terrible, with the manager unable to address our complaints effectively. Overall, I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone and suggest dining at other Chinese restaurants in the area instead. It was a disappointing and embarrassing experience.
Yu-Xi Elite is without a doubt the worst dining experience I've had at a Chinese restaurant in my over 40 years of dining out. We used a discount voucher, which may have influenced our experience, but that is no excuse. We were repeatedly told that dishes we wanted were unavailable or excluded from the offer, even though they were not listed as such on the voucher. The food was terrible, ranging from cold, fatty lamb chops to a dish that was unrecognizable compared to the menu description. The portion sizes were small and the wine served with the deal was subpar. The service was awful, with the manager unable to handle our complaints effectively. I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone, especially considering its claim to be a high-end Chinese establishment. It was a disappointing addition to the culinary scene in Adelaide.
Six of us dined at the Yu-Xi Elite last night afterurchading vouchers from one of the deal sites. We arrived at 730pm as booked but had to wait in the foyer for 20 minutes whilst they readied our table. Finally we were led to our table only to discover that not one of us old life our chairs under the table because wooden decorative pieces all around the table prevented us from pulling our chairs in. Eventually we worked out that if we flipped the base cushions tied to the chair to the back of the chair we could just get our knees under the table. It was too hard to explain the problem to the only two waitresses as neither understood English very well.It took half hour and one of us going to the counter before drink orders were taken md bother half hour to get the drinks. Our food order hadn't even been taken at that stage. It was a good two hours before the first entrees hit the table and all 3 were icy cold. The service was appalling - it was evident that the two waitresses had barely been trained and they knew nothing about the dishes so when dishes came out icy cold they could not tell us whether they were suppposed to be cold or not. They took them back to the kitchen where they were obviously heated up in the microwave, then on returning them said that they were meant to be cold. Have to say, I'd never come across the lamb in many asian dishes, and definitely not in the form of chopped up cheap lamb chops served cold with the strips of fat turned white from refrigeration. Thereafter all dishes came out scalding hot and the seafood was hard and chewy from being over cooked - the scallops were like rubber!. Cant say I've ever seen or tasted quite as much garlic used in any dish! It made me wonder whether the food was turning bad and they were covering it by drowning it in garlic. At one stage one of our group asked where the ladies toilet was. The waitress took her to the kitchen - she cleary had no idea what was being asked of her. We felt immensely sorry for the two waitresses as it was very evident that they had not been properly trained and were not equipped to cope with the 4 or 5 groups of diners, ranging from couples with our group of 6 being the biggest. We couldn't eat many of the dishes, they tasted awful. All up we were there for nearly five hours. My partner was only offered and served two drinks in that entire time - we ladies were lucky enough to have a bottle of wine to keep us going! My advice. Stay away! The worst service I have come across and the food was mediocre at best. I'm only ranking it at all because I have to do so in order to leave a review - id prefer to give it a ZERO!
