Matcha-ya - Kapaa

Absolutely delightful sweet treats! My wife and I enjoyed a mango and strawberry shaved ice topped with condensed milk, and it was simply delicious! This was also the first restaurant/store we visited in Kauai that was fully committed to COVID-19 safety precautions. We've noticed that very few people on the island are wearing masks, so it was refreshing to find a place that required hand sanitization before and after payment, along with all staff members wearing masks.

The shaved ice here is fantastic, and the portion sizes are quite generous. It's the perfect treat for a hot day!

Clean and spacious inside. Pics of entire menu on the wall. The strawberry lemonade matcha is exactly what it sounds like, but tastes so unique. Lava flow is good and has a strong bubblegum aftertaste, very rich.

Matcha-ya, as I found out, carries their own brand of matcha. If you are a fan of high grade matcha for chawan use or a latte that actually tastes like matcha and not sugar you will enjoy this matcha. The matcha lattes they make are a perfect color. The pineapple whipped was quite good as well.

Their shave ice is made in a Japanese shaver and the ice is very soft and fluffy! No crystals of ice. Flavors top notch
