Island Country Markets - Kapaa

This is an excellent local grocery, with a great selection of ready-to-eat food items and drinks. They have a scant selection of groceries, but it's a wonderful one-stop shop for vacationers and has a number of souvenir items and some clothing too. They get busy around mealtimes but are open into the early evening, when checkout is faster.

I love ABC stores and this one is exceptionally amazing! I am obsessed with the egg salad sandwich seriously you need to try this. I get it every time I 'm in Hawaii at ABC! I know people look at me like I 'm lame but seriously try it, its just the perfect, always the same, delicious light sandwich! Literally our first stop after the airport for lunch! Coconut shrimp delicious too! Tried the banana pancakes this time for a decadent treat! Like dessert definitely could split this as it comes with 3 huge cakes and a sugary syrup was sooo delicious also ordered scrambled eggs with it for some protein! I actually only was able to eat one pancake good to split between 2 3 people! The poke bowls are awesome too! I love all the food we have tried. We are staying close by and while we will dine out occasionally we prefer to grab something quick most the time and not spend a few hours at a restaurant or worry about reservations. Coffee shop excellent too cold brew was delicious. So many neat souvenirs and anything you would possibly want or need such as drinks, water, alcohol, snacks, macadamia chocolates, beach towels, clothing, sunscreen. The employees are super nice and have Aloha spirit! There is a little outside area to sit and eat in the shade and despite someone else 's comment about the chickens I think the add to the Kauai ambience and didn 't find any poop every time we ate the tables and ground were clean. Mahalo ABC store employees for making this store awesome and a part of our trip and eating all the delicious food! I have heard the prime rib is delicious i don 't think you will go wrong with anything here!

SO much variety of fun and yummy-looking foods to try here. I stopped by the Papalani Gelato, but since I 'm not a huge gelato person, I ended up choosing one of the many delicious looking pastries from Soleil d 'Hawaii Bakery , SO many of them looked good, had such a hard timing choosing which one to get. Since I love Ube, I got the Sweet Potato Haupia slice. It was DELICIOUS! The Ube and cake were perfectly sweetened, tasted very authentic South East Asian. Would definitely get it again hehe (and I 'm not a huge sweet tooth). The workers here were really nice, they let me try 3 different gelato flavors (all which were super yummy also). The market is also really bright, lots of variety of South East Asian/East Asian products. Fun place!

I was so excited to try the poke here after seeing the reviews but this is a solid 2 stars at best. It's just an ABC store with a hot foods section. We were enticed by their reasonable prices for their poke and prime rib specials. However, the poke was mediocre at best. The crab topping was really just torn up pieces of imitation crab. The red onion topping was just chopped red onion instead of sliced red onion typically found in poke. The prime rib was completely over cooked and dry. despite this, we still gave their breakfast plate a try. The breakfast plate was actually pretty sad. I got two meats: bacon and Portuguese sausage. It came with two slices of bacon and three pieces of Portuguese sausage. It was just kind of sad. Despite the reasonable prices, it just wasn't worth it.

We stayed at the Beach Boy and had a wonderful time! One of the reasons we had an amazing stay was this market. We literally went everyday. The Poke was delicious. And all the other food at the deli was also very yummy. The people who work here are also very nice and friendly! They carry many things that I couldn't find in other souvenir shops! And save your receipts bc you can redeem them for cool prizes!
