Regal Chinese Restaurant - Kaleen

We have visited Regal restaurant many times over the last 10-12 years. Over the years, the restaurant has changed hands many times, although the name Regal has not changed with the new incoming owners. Quality of the food also flows and ebbs with different owners. We stopped going to Regal the last few years due to the poor quality of food and rude waiting staff at the time.. However on hearing good reports and yet another change of ownership, we decided to give it another go. We have been back twice in the last two months.Last week, we took some friends there who have never been before. It was a Friday evening and the restaurant was fairly full. They have a very good banquet menu for six people which is very good value for money. However the banquet was not available on Fridays, so we had to order a la carte which of course worked out to be more expensive. No complaints however as all the dishes we ordered were delicious.We had a king prawns with vermicelli, fillet steak in hot pot, flaming pork chop, deep fried sole and snake beans in xo sauce. The King prawns with vermicelli, fillet steak were stand-outs, so were the deep fried sole. The servings were quite generous, except the fillet steak, but all the six of us had more than enough to eat.The waiting staff was efficient and prompt and very pleasant to deal with.The fortune cookies provided a pleasant end to the meal. Price-wise, it is marginally more expensive than the average Chinese restaurants in Canberra.Will certainly go back again, provided they don't change their chefs.

There were many food options on the menu, but the overall experience was average. The value for money was decent, but because it is a small establishment, prices are not dirt cheap. The service was informal and not terrible, but it would be better if all the dishes arrived at the table simultaneously. The noodles were good, but the black beans were not very tasty.

Regal chinese restaurant belconnen order on menulog, around 17.45 clock this delivery would be 6.55 clock, that would be a little late for us as we children. no delivery of 6.55pm, called first to follow the restaurant to say food delivery had left 10...minutes ago. then waited half an hour and no food yet, called a second time. extremely rude staff on the phone when I asked poliety where our food was, and please let me know when it left the restaurant. I got another departure time to call the first one I did. for another half an hour it was 8.15 o'clock and not yet eating. I called the restaurant for the third time, extremely rude, would not talk me out and cut me away. I asked how far away this would be eating, as it was good over 1 hour and 15 minutes eating was going around in the back of an car. I also gave my number to the various employees who were asked to be called by the manager. this never happened when no call was received. when we finally got the food, it was cold, soggy and not worth eating. no apologies given by any employee on the phone, only they have to wait and 2 of the 3 phone calls on me mid-set hanged and before I finish talking. bad service, extremely rude on the phone, very cold dinner supplied. in any case they do not recommend this restaurant.

Have been a customer for many years and have to eat gluten-free. This place can make SO MANY of its dishes from the menu to be gf. We usually have sweet n sour pork, Mongolian lamb, salt n pepper chicken, honey chicken, lemon chicken, san...Choi bau, all of which are GF. you just ask when ordering. The food is yummy, fast takeaway and not skimpy on the serves. Only downside is that when they’re busy (Friday nights) you can wait longer than normal to get your order so be prepared for that. But when you’re looking for GF Chinese......to be able to walk in and order straight away and have your order in 15-20 mins is awesome.
