Country Cabin - Jacksonville

Order two biscuits and gravy. This is a weekly visit Saturday for the two of us. The biscuits and the gravy were both cold. Could not eat. Was told they would get us another biscuit to replace the two. Needless to say we were still charged for the cold food. We have since moved our Saturday morning breakfast to IHOP.

If you get in the mood for the kind of Southern comfort food you grew up with in the South, the Country Cabin has it. Collard greens, fried chicken, meatloaf, country fried steak, mashed potatoes and gravy, and pies or cobblers for deserts, accompanied by sweet iced tea. Good-sized portions at reasonable prices, decent service, though short staffed when we were there for dinner.

Had early dinner special on Sunday, May 12, 2019. Service was spotty at best, food ok. Price of dinner was $7.99. Tax should have been 56 cents. Total should have been $8.55. Simple math. Cashier told me total was $8.56. When I pointed out the error, she got nasty, muttered something in a heavy accent. Not sure what she said, sounded Russian? I asked to speak to the manager, she said she was the manager. I asked her if being rude and losing a customer over a penny was worth it. Especially when there was an obvious error in the tax calculation. She muttered something else, I couldn't understand what she said. I paid my bill, told her she had lost a regular customer, and left. And I will never go back there again.

This is the kind of place you eat at more than once and you are a regular, everyone will know your name. They have a senior menu too. A little less money, same great food. Had breakfast 5 days in a row, tried everything from the loaded oatmeal to eggs, bacon and toast. All was great, the waitresses are superb!

Close to home, Nice little country cooking place. Most everything I have ever ordered here came to me hot and delicious. Tonight we took my daughter out for a nice dinner. She ordered stuffed crabs and said they were delicious. I ordered the stuffed pepper. When it came it was huge and I mean huge. Wow, but it was stone cold ! Waitress didn't come back until we were nearly done and all I got was sorry, not sorry, let me bring you something else, not let me zap it in the microwave, not let me adjust your bill, nothing ! Ok I will take it home and heat it up but gee ! Husbands BLT was ok but came with different bread than he asked for. We will go back but I will not order the stuffed pepper again.
