Estela's Fresh Mex Iowa City

This is the best place for Mexican in Iowa City, hands down. The staff is always friendly, decor is nice and well lit, and the food is amazing. I always go for the Friday burrito deal. You can't beat a huge, delicious burrito, along with chips and queso for $6. The Tuesday taco deal is great too. The lineup gets long, but it's worth it. As for the food itself, I've tried the quesadillas, burritos, and tacos. The quesadillas are a very generous portion, and the perfect amount if you're hungry. The burritos are massive, filled with fresh ingredients, and even better with grilled meat like steak or al pastor. I usually can't even finish a burrito in one sitting and save the rest for a snack later in the evening. The hot and extra hot salsas are great: spicy, but not too spicy. I was a little worried when Mami's closed and I heard they were opening up more of a sit-down restaurant, that it would lose it's hole-in-the-wall charm, but my worries were unfounded. Yes, the prices went up a little, but I love Estela's.

From tortillas better than Pancheros, to customer service that is a step above, I 6/5 recommend Estela's! By far the best Mexican food in Iowa City

This is truly the best fast Mexican food I’ve ever experienced! I'm not a fan of Panch, but Estella’s completely surpasses them!

Delicious street taco style with amazing flavors! A perfect alternative to Pancheros!

I wasn't sure we needed another fresh mex place in Iowa City. I was wrong. Estela's fills a void I didn't know IC had. The salsa verde was delicious. The service was also terrific. I'll definitely be back, probably sooner than later.
