With a colorful history dating back to 1905 and a choice location along the porticos, we have stopped here for coffee from time to time. Today, after an underwhelming lunch on the harbor, we were looking for some decent ice cream. Service is slow, but like most places in Italy, they are short staffed. The window with the gelato was not fully reassuring. A sign that said quality gelato suggested it was made somewhere else. Inside, with another counter in the way, you can 't see the labels with the flavors. Still, I asked a waitress if we could have a dish of pistaccio and nocciola, and she seemed happy to bring them to us. The ice cream was of decent qualitty. We were happy to sit outside and enjoy the dessert. They have some work to do to regain more public acclaim. But it would be a shame to lose this landmark.
Taking a bus down the coast to Imperia while staying in Cervo, a morning coffee in this elegant cafe was a happy accident we got off the bus in what we thought was the town centre without realising that Imperia has two central areas, and the historic bit is a bit further on. While waiting for the next bus we nipped in here for a sit down and a drink, experimented with caffe d'orzo (barley based and quite nice, until I realised there was no caffeine hit) and enjoyed a brief interlude watching other customers coming in and out. Good range of cakes, pleasant staff and very nice loo what more can you ask for in a pit stop?
I am a frequent cusomter, for drinks and lunch. Food is prepared whilst you wait. Gelati and small sweet cakes are fabulous. This is my favoirte cafe in Oneglia
