This place truly embodies the spirit of a hometown restaurant, a rarity these days. If you give these wonderful ladies a chance, you'll likely become a regular. The menu feels like it’s been taken straight from a Southern mother’s cookbook, and the food is not only delicious but consistently good.
I 'm going to steal someone else 's description because I feel it accurately describes this place, It 's like a local Cracker Barrel. I like Cracker Barrel. I like Rolo 's. Have I ever been blown away by the food at Cracker Barrel? No. Was I blown away by Rolo 's? No. That 's not to say it wasn 't good. It was good and I will probably be back when I get the craving for something southern.
This is good ol' classic country food. No frills, good food. Growing up in the south but acquiring a more diverse food pallette as I've gotten older, it's always nice to have something that reminds you of home. This food reminds me of the kind of food you'd get at a covered dish at your local small town church. The service was nice and friendly. I had the famous 8 hour pot roast, greens, and mac and cheese. The flavor was there. The prices were pretty cheap compared to everything else nowadays. If you want a good no frills country meal, support local and go to Rolos.
Christy and the other staff are friendly and the food is good. Christy excels in so many ways, she always comes and greets us warmly even if she's not our server. Her dedication to making us feel welcome is topped by none other than her talking to my 27 month old daughter and yes my baby speaks like an adult it's not jabbering . She even goes so far as to turn on the suspended train for her viewing pleasure. If you want great service and food drop by for a visit to Rolo's! it has a cheers vibe where people know you!
We started with dessert, enjoying some carrot cake and Mississippi mud cake. For dinner, we had chicken and dressing (though it could have used a bit more chicken), along with fried okra, mashed potatoes, and pinto beans. The buttermilk cornbread was delicious, and not the sweet variety. Overall, it was a very tasty dinner. The owner and staff were friendly, making it a genuine local dining experience!
