This spot has all the potential to be a great place to hang out, but the crowd on a Sunday afternoon—supposedly the best day to party in Houston—just didn't live up to expectations. There was little mingling, nobody was dancing, and the energy felt quite dull overall. Plus, Kamp charged $6 for a bottle of water, which seemed a bit outrageous.
We visited Kamp on Monday to try their special: two snow crabs and a pound of shrimp for just $14.99. This is a fantastic deal! I preferred the boiled seafood to the fried options, although it took quite a while—about 15-20 minutes—for the boiled dish to arrive. It wasn't busy when we went around 1:30 PM, so I'm not sure why there was such a delay. The chicken salad came overloaded with dressing, making it a bit soggy. Overall, though, the customer service was excellent! The managers were very attentive and helpful. I definitely recommend giving them a try.
I've always passed by this restaurant without ever stopping in, but I finally decided to go for my birthday brunch, and it was fantastic! The DJ created an energetic atmosphere, and the food was delicious. Parking can be a bit expensive, but since we shared the cost, it wasn't a big deal. I highly recommend Kamp to anyone looking for a fun daytime experience and great hookah.
KAMP was a nice vibe! We had a reservation for 11AM. You have to wait in the regular line, but seating didn?t take long. We were sat in hot sun, and was so hot our phones wouldn?t work due to them being overheated. We to move to covered patio area which wasan easy process. I initially ordered the sausage gravy w/potatoes which I found out they were out of once they brought me aplate w/fries as a substitute. I decided to just try the biscuit gravy which were cold and only had a few pieces of sausagesprinkled in it. Biscuits could be better also. I decided to ordered the oxtails grits as well and baby this made up for thebiscuits. I?ve had oxtails 3 times and there?s were clean the bone good. We tried a variety of drinks and I would say ?The Slab?will have you laying on the slab. Great DJs , love the Frats Sororities scrolling, and everything that just made it a greattime. I would recommend putting some umbrellas up to block sun in the open patio area.
My friends and I went on Saturday afternoon. We sat in the patio area that was covered. The line was long but went fairly fast. You can do self parking or valet. Valet is $20 and self working is $40. If possible carpool. The earlier you arrive the betterthe seats. I'm happy we were able to get covered seating because it was scorching hot. We were in high tops. The food was goodand the drink was also nice. I had an electric travel hand fan. I suggest you being one also. They did have one large fan but itwasn't enough for the heat. Vegetarian options are very limited but pescatarian options are good. We had a party of 4 but twojoined and left in the 2-3 hrs we were there. Our bill was over $330. Considering that we only had 4 meals, one huge drink, andfour shots, that is on the higher end. However, it was a nice experience. Our waitress was very nice and attentive. The bathroomis clean and in the back of the restaurant if you need to use it. The seats are a little cramped.
