フィードバックを提供するCandente was pretty middle of the pack in terms of Tex-Mex in Houston. The service was friendly and I enjoyed the atmosphere. The queso is a white queso that has a great initial taste but lacks depth other quesos offer. Although they are supposedly knownfor their fajitas, I was expecting more. The chicken could have been marinated more and have more flavor. It also could havebeen cooked a little more tender. We got a frozen premium margarita that was solid and on par with most restaurants. Overall,Candente is not a bad experience but there are other places in Houston that shine more. (Of note- you are given more fajitasthan are shown in my photo)
Saw this place on a food bloggers page and decided to come since I was in Houston for the weekend. We initially came because we love Mexican food and have been dying to try the Birria tacos for a while now. We came during happy hour and it was great.Plenty of availability and the margaritas were good. We got the Chile Con Queso w/taco meat to start and it was good. I?m a BIGqueso fan and this didn?t disappoint. They serve a green and red salsa which were extremely good and flavorful, not spicy at allwhich I loved because I?m not big on spice. Four our entrees we of course got the Tacos Birria De Res which were good but alottle too spicy for my liking. My husband, however, devoured them ????. The tacos did come with rice and beans, and the ricewas amazing. Very flavorful, had I known we would have gotten double rice instead of the beans. I opted to get a small order ofthe Brisket Nachos because I saw a picture of them and they looked sooo good. Let?s just say I?m happy I got the small. Theflavors of the nachos did not pair well together. They should take away the barbecue sauce because WHY?! And add some type ofavocado or a queso sauce instead. They just DID NOT hit the spot for me. Overall I give 3 stars because our experience was greatand CS was on point!
Very authentic and tasty Tex-mex dishes! Our waiter (wish I got his name) was very friendly, attentive and went above and beyond in serving us. If I lived in Houston , I would make this one of my regular spots.
If you have asthma do not eat here! The food was fine. Nothing too special about regular Tex Mexican food. It's over priced. The entire indoor fills with smoke when they cook. It was so bad that we had to step outside a few times just to get some air.The smoke so thick we felt nauseated. Not good at all for atmosphere. Do not bring your children here to dine indoors!!!If we ever choose to return it will be in the fall and sitting outside.
The food was amazing! Parking is limited so be mindful of that. Unisex bathrooms but one at a time so at least there is privacy. Hugo was our server and he was so rude. He wouldn’t respond when we spoke to him and would just walk away. He was visibly irritated if we asked him for something and throughout our entire meal we were never check on. The other staff as far as the person who delivered our drinks and the hostess were very pleasant. I will be back but will specifically ask to not be seated with Hugo.
