We got married at Losehill house on Saturday and it was the perfect day! Jules and the team made the whole day run so smoothly and everything we asked for was never a problem they bought our dream wedding to life! Everyone has commented on how amazing the venue, food and team was we can’t recommend Losehill enough! Thank you so much again Rooms: 5 Service: 5 Location: 5
We've just had a mini break at Losehill and thoroughly enjoyed it. Lovely picturesque location in the Peak District. The spa was very welcome, the evening meal was amazing, but most of all we would like to thank the staff. Every staff member we met (and there were quite a few) was extremely helpful, friendly and professional; they all really helped contribute to a wonderful break, and are a great credit to the hotel. Losehill house certainly not anywhere close to luxury avoid at all costs. What a disappointment Losehill House Hotel is, the website and certain booking sites would have you believe this is a luxury hotel, the price tag would certainly dictate it is. However, it is anything but, we had a thoroughly miserable time at this Hotel. Luxury has a different meaning for everyone, of course. However when it comes to hotels here 's what the word usually means to most: beautiful attention to detail, excellent customer service, room service, a fridge in the room and a mini bar, a concierge, soundproofing, a feeling of being somewhere special... that 's not what losehill house offers... When I booked a room intially I was told dogs were not allowed in that type of room and was downgraded to a smaller room as I have one small well behaved pug. The downgrade in and of itself did not concern me, this after all sells itself as a luxury hotel... it was only upon arrival that it became clear that what the owners of this establishment are claiming on their website is, in my honestly held opinion, absolutely misleading. Please take time to review the attached pictures comparing the website 's advertised luxury and the reality....quite the contrast. It was like we 'd arrived at the wrong hotel. This place is a joke. The room: the room was similar to a uni student 's studio, scratched cheap laminate flooring, a dirty divan bed base, odd mismatched fixings, big standard linens, no cushions or blankets or attention to detail. It was overlooking a car park at ground floor level with no way to gain privacy apart from to have the curtains shut at all times if you didn 't want to have the drivers and neighbours constantly looking into the windows. There was no soundproofing, all we could hear were footsteps upstairs and next door talking. There is cheap garden furniture scattered outside the room on a grubby patio and one of those same tables outside has been dragged into the room to act as a tea station. There was a worn brown blanket on a horrid cheap sofa which was threadbare in places and really unappealing. There is some furniture shoved against the walls but it all feels very cheap. The bathroom is the same you would find in any cheap b and b in any town, not beautifully appointed . Depressing is the word we used most often to describe it. So here 's my problem with this, I 'm happy to stay somewhere like this if I know what to expect but this is what the owners of the hotel say about the rooms on their website: Losehill House Hotel has 22 beautifully appointed 4 star en suite bedrooms and suites.... . Most of our rooms give you extensive views over the Peak District National Park... this is simply untrue in my view. I am sure the hotel management will defend themselves by saying they have nicer rooms but it sells itself on luxury and if it isn 't all luxury then NONE of it is....that 's how it works. The hotel: the hotel itself is shabby and tired, it is grubby in lots of places (this morning flies all over the window sill as we are breakfast . The view is indeed charming but paying a total of approximately 500 for two nights in the depressing room is outrageous and a view cannot make up for that, especially when your view is of a car park. The spa: hmmmmm it 's okay, tiny and you have to book a one hour slot so we assumed we would have relative privacy and time to use the facility, unfortunately we shared with 12 other people, there were no free chairs and no room in either the jacuzzi or the sauna. Gave up after 30 minutes as it was as depressing as the room. Conclusion: When I complained about the room and put our disappointment to the staff this morning, I was met with oh okay, do you want to pay your bill? there was no shock, no apology, no concern. It seems this is not a surprise to the staff here that people feel misled by the website... I really would urge you to look elsewhere if what you 're looking for is luxury, if you 're looking for overpriced disappointment head here! Food drinks: The restaurant and the food: breakfast is passable as long as you stay away from the cooked one, everything on my plate was either cooked to ashes or overcooked (split scrambled eggs! The evening meal was really just okay, nothing more. The staff are sweet enough but came to me yesterday to explain another couple had taken our requested table...and looked at me expectantly as if I was supposed to solve their ineptitude. So we sat at the other couple 's table...
Beautiful location for a wedding, could not fault the place, friendly helpful staff, amazing surroundings and great spa and pool. Rooms: 5 Service: 5 Location: 5
