Okura Japanese Cuisine - Hockessin

I have visited this restaurant multiple times and I absolutely LOVE the food! If you haven't been there yet, you definitely should. Kailon is hilarious and loves to chat. The servers are very friendly as well. It can get quite busy, but trust me, it's worth the wait. They have both classic dishes and new options to try! Be sure to sample the bang bang shrimp—it's amazing!

I’ve been here before, and my husband really enjoys the Hockessin roll, so we decided to return with our kids. While the Hockessin roll and the crunchy tuna roll were acceptable, the dishes lacked flavor and were quite bland. The teriyaki chicken was seasoned decently, but it came with plain white rice, steamed broccoli, and no sauce to enhance the flavor. The tempura had a light and crispy batter, but it tasted purely of flour and water, lacking any real seasoning. The udon noodles were more sprouts than noodles and, once again, had no taste. Even the yakitori noodles with chicken felt flavorless. Most dishes were priced between $15 and $20, but you can find far better tasting options for a third of the price at the Japanese fast food stand in the mall!

The best place for sushi, hands down! I've never been going to Sushi since I was here. Great sushi, good consistent customer service!

This is an amazing restaurant. I met a friend here, and was pleasantly surprised that I could reserve a table online via google without having to call to do it myself. I didn't need the reservation in the end, but I could see why this was offered because the sushi and customer service were top-notch. I assume before COVID that Okura is a bustling little restaurant. There’s plenty of seating inside, but also low enough lighting to make it a great date night location. Being pregnant, our waiter was very accomodating and comical despite all of my questions and requests. I cannot wait to visit here again.
