Don't forget to check out their selection of sweet treats, like oversized muffins, and refreshing smoothies. I have visited several times and will definitely be back for more in the future.
We came here as part of the Melbourne Food Wine Festival Westside crawl. We had a taste of the delicious fresh taco, cabbage salad and slow cooked pork. These dishes were washed down with Hawkers hazy beer, a light beer and others.
I am continuously amazed by the great dining options I discover in unexpected suburbs. Pier Street Altona has evolved over the years, with an expanding and improving selection of eateries. I decided to try brunch at Hangar1obe2 after hearing high recommendations for their eggs benedict, and I was not disappointed. The cafe, though compact, makes the most of its space with tables along the walls and a communal bench in the center. I ordered the eggs benedict with pulled pork, while my friend opted for bacon. The portions were generous and the flavors were excellent. The cafe is wheelchair accessible with only a small step to the toilets, and they provide highchairs for little ones. Parking is available in front and on side streets, though there are time restrictions. They also offer takeaway options. The muffins looked substantial enough to be a meal on their own. The staff were incredibly friendly, taking our order quickly and serving our meals in just 15 minutes. They even provided a pen for the crossword in the newspapers they supply. Overall, a fantastic place to dine - I will definitely be back.
The staff at this restaurant are very welcoming and the menu is impressive. They have both indoor and outdoor seating options. I appreciate that they charge extra for gluten-free toast, but it would be even better if they offered a better quality bread option instead of just plain white. Unfortunately, we were not reminded to check in during our visit.
Fantastic food and very very tasty. For entree(4 of us) we had the samosa, spinach pakora and paneer pakora (never tasted pakora before!).Both the pakoras was such a delightful taste especially the spinach pakora, crunchy on the outside and not oily. For the mains we had Butter chicken and chicken tikka (both chicken dishes were tasty and very tender boneless chicken pieces), Lamb Korma (loved the creamy yogurt sauce with the cashew taste in it, and lamb was tender) and beef rogan josh (tasty but beef a bit chewy, not bad). For dessert we had the Indian ice cream- mango was really really creamy and tasty, the pistachio ice cream was unusual,a bit grainy in texture and different but interesting, not overwhelming in taste, a good refreshing and light finish to a beautiful meal. The girl serving us was so sweet and obliging. The exterior of the restaurant may look pretty ordinary and may put some people off, but do not judge the restaurant by the shopfront, it will definitely surprise you when you taste the food.
