Leo's Grandevous - Hoboken

A beloved fixture in Hoboken. The bar is fantastic, the staff is wonderful, and the food is excellent. I always leave feeling full and thoroughly satisfied. The short rib special tastes like I'm enjoying it for the first time every single time. The veal parm, francese, and saltimbocca are exemplary representations of their respective dishes. And let's not forget the chicken marsala—it's outstanding too!

We arrived for an early dinner, and while the place had a few patrons at the bar and in the dining area, it felt cozy and intimate. I did wish for some music to play to soften the sound of conversation, but perhaps they turn it up later when it gets busier. Now, onto the food! As usual, I asked the server for recommendations, and he promptly mentioned that they are famous for their mussels. I decided to go with the mussels in marinara sauce, while my family ordered Chicken Alfredo and a Chicken Caesar salad. The freshly baked bread that arrived at our table was hot and delightful, setting the stage for the meal to come. The mussels and linguine were fantastic—super fresh, piping hot, and bursting with flavor; definitely some of the best I’ve ever had! Our server was training a new staff member, and both were exceptionally warm and knowledgeable, sharing fun trivia about the restaurant and Sinatra, including the story behind the chair above the bar. I did have to flag them down for the bill and my to-go box, but that was a minor detail in an otherwise great experience. I can’t wait to return the next time I’m in town to explore more of their delicious offerings. It’s easy to see why this establishment has been around for 85 years! Charming little Italian restaurant with fantastic food and excellent service.

Italian American food at this popular with the locals restaurant. There's a bar that seats maybe a dozen people and dining room for maybe 60. Reasonable prices.

Excellent place with delicious foods and good servers. Specially with music machine of Frank Sinatra's songs.
