Taj Palace Indian Restaurant-north Hobart

I ordered the vegetarian thali and the Malai Kofta, which was the chef's choice, but it was overly sweet despite my request for medium spice levels. My husband's chicken tikka, however, was good.

Delicious Indian cuisine in downtown Hobart, with perfectly moist naan. The staff also provided ample packaging for my leftovers to take home!

Outstanding service and great value, with consistency in quality and flavor. The naan bread here is the best in Hobart, even when compared to other Annapurna locations.

Had a couple of chefs specials because we weren’t sure what we wanted. The chana masala and prawns were amazing; rice fresh and each grain separate; service was friendly and prompt. Recommended.

Wow! Taj Palace serves the best Indian cuisine I've ever had. As someone who travels frequently for work, I often use Taj Palace as the standard for Indian restaurants everywhere I go. The service is excellent, the portion sizes are generous, and the prices are very reasonable. I’m often frustrated when I have to pay extra for rice at other places, but not at Taj Palace! Here, rice is included with your curry. The owner, Harry, and his wonderful, dedicated wife are truly a pleasure to be around. I’m so hooked on their curry that I order from Taj Palace via DoorDash, Menulog, and UberEats at least once a week. I've introduced many of my friends and family, including several from the airline industry, to this hidden gem in Hobart, and they love it just as much. It's no surprise to see restaurant owners, Australian cricketers, and even the occasional Bollywood star dining here. Thank you, Taj Palace!
