For the majority of the night, our table (of 7) were the only ones in the dining room which I thought was rare for a Saturday night. On this occasion I was incredibly disappointed with THI. Upon reviewing the menu I discovered only three types of pizza and for my 6 yo son, he just wanted a simple ham & cheese. Upon asking if I could order a simple ham & cheese pizza, the chef gave 'a look' and I was told that they don't do ham and cheese pizzas, despite there being a 'margarita' available and adding ham was not an option. Looking at the menu I could see you could order a 'Hawaiian' topping on your schnitzel - not sure how hard it is to put the ham and cheese that you put on a schnitzel on a pizza base. To top it all off when our meals were delivered to the table, they also brought with the meals a cockroach. Thankfully a friendly and helpful waiter helped remove the intruder however was disappointed that the chef considered the cockroach on our table to be a normal thing for this area and blamed the roadworks for disturbing the pests. Sadly I won't be returning.

Their food is great especially when a schitty and chips are on special for lunches. I've been here for dinner too, their steaks are ok, my favourite part of the dish is actually the Diane sauce. I love their chicken wrapped in prosciutto, stuffed with avo and cherry tomatoes. I've tried the lamb shanks as well, nothing wow about this dish, as there is just mash and lamb. Mediterranean pasta was good too. I love their portion sizes as they are generous and filling. There have been some mistakes with our orders on the occasions we have been here, but the staff are lovely and very apologetic, often compensating by sending out garlic bread or other entrees so, we can forgive them.
Ducked in to the Hope Inn for a quick meal before a show we were seeing at the Thebbie theatre a short distance down the road. We hadn't been before and weren't expecting much to be honest. Interior needs a bit of a revamp. Wine list short but cheap. Service was quite friendly. Ordered the eye fillet and lamb shanks. Steak was cooked slightly over but still tender. Lamb shanks were delicious with a thick and rich tasting sauce. The mash was nice too. Surprisingly an enjoyable meal at a reasonable price. Both commented that we'd return at some stage.
Well, this pub seems to have managed to survive the new Port Road underpass, but then again it has been one of those pubs that seem to have been around
