Tamagoya - Himeji

I ate the Tamago Kake Gohan ¥860, tax included), it was delicious and inexpensive. I was also very surprised that you can refill the rice and egg for free as most shops need payment to do so. It sure is an amazing experience to have a bite after visiting the Himeji Castle.

In this restaurant, I ate a raw egg over rice. In Japan, raw eggs are served over rice with soy sauce. This food is known as a Japanese breakfast food. At Tamagoya, you can have as many servings of this delicious raw egg over rice as you like.

This was a fantastic place to eat right in front of the castle. The food was fantastic and for the price it can't be beat. You can have free rice refills with extra eggs for free. Such a nice place to relax while in the area.

A place you can enjoy “卵かけご飯”(Tamago-kake-goham, Rice with topped with raw eggs). It’s right in front of Himeji-jo. You need to register your name there and waiting for the waiter to call you. There is a set menu coming up with grilled conger eel, sweet fried egg, putting, rice, and raw eggs. The eggs and rice are all-you-can-eat. Recommend to those who want to try same raw eggs with rice!

For most people who tried this restaurant for the first time, I do not believe we had ever eaten raw egg with rice in our lives. I was not intimidated by the first sight, it's just something we would not normally order. After my first bite, I was amazed by how sweet raw egg can be and there was no strange after taste lingering in your mouth. Great first time experience for me, without a doubt I will come revisit this shop sometime.
