This local fish market on Hilo bay has a lively lunch counter and closes at 5PM - open just late enough for folks to pick up dinner on their way home from
Get the Poke plate For 16$ they give you way too much foodIt's enough to serve 3 people and the fish is all very fresh.
Had the best poke bowl here. We took it out and sat by the water to eat it. My kids got the triangular roll. There's also a few cold dishes. Street parking. Luckily we went before lunch crowd. When we left, the line was out the door.
We got a couple poke bowls with two scoops recommended by the staff: ahi spicy and ahi taegu. We both preferred the taegu! The poke itself was good (but not amazing), but the rice was pretty terrible and hard. Seems like it had been sitting for a long time. Maybe only tourists get rice here? ?I do wish there was the option to include a side or two as a plate, but we ended up grabbing a side of pineapple which was really delicious!Service was friendly. A bit overpriced. We were underwhelmed and wouldn’t return.
