Alta Vita Ristorante - High River

$20 for a chicken caesar salad and when I tried to talk to management about the costs I got told 'sorry you feel that way'

We went in for lunch after reading such great reviews. The food was average at best. I had the Yorkshire wrapped beef. The beef was cold, dry and salty. Out of all the places you can go for lunch in High River I would not choose this again.

Took the wife there for a nice meal. I was in that place a few times when it had another name and it was very good fine dining. Whoa, did they ever change that. There were about 5 people sitting at the bar, one hammered, 2 drunk, and the other 2 trying hard to get there. There was no where in the place to sit where you would not be annoyed by this ****. And speaking of ****, the food was way over priced for what we had. Poorly cooked, seemed more like short order, greacy spoon stuff. The waitress actually came to us to tell us she was going outside for a smoke, then called one of the drunks at the bar to go with her. We had 2 drinks each with the meal and the bill was over $100. We ate as fast as we could just to get out of there, we left, and will never look back. It's a dump. Too bad, it used to be nice.

Although this establishment has been operating for a couple of years now under its new management we hadn't managed to check it out yet. But two weeks ago we did, and we were very pleasantly surprised! A good turnout of patrons on a Saturday evening about 6:00 enjoyed the "Jam" and we did too. Service was prompt and welcoming. We ordered the special small steak and side which was flavourful, tender and perfectly cooked, accompanied by a glass of their house wine which was also very acceptable. Staff were hopping and very efficient. A pleasant evening with good food and very enjoyable live music made for a decision to come back again, soon!

We shared a rack of ribs and they were delicious! The food is not typical pub food it is a great menu for pretty reasonable prices! There are pictures on the walls of High River in the year 1906 which is the year High River was amalgamated. The images are very interesting to study.
