I started with the waiter’s, manuel, recommended by mezcal and it just remained better! guacamole with chips and the fish in light white sauce were delicious. the espresso at the end was by far the best. I had in mexiko. When I left, I was invited to the upper floor museum and so glad I went to check it out. this restaurant is more about the experience than anything else and I highly recommend.
Great scenery and atmosphere. The menu has a great combination of local cuisine and international dishes. We enjoyed the Chalupas poblanos and the home charcuterie as starters. My wife had the shrimp a la Diabla and I had the Mole poblano. Service was superb. A...must stop if in Puebla.
Amazing food and great service at this elegant place was followed by a visit to a museum inside this complex, featuring rare collection of pre-Colombian artifacts. Highly recommend!
Breakfast at the adjacent Lonerica coffee shop is wonderful actually cooked in the main kitchen. Otherwise there is coffee, pastries etc anytime of day. It was very reasonable too. A manager came and chatted with us. The decor is beautiful interesting. We also had...dinner at the main restaurant which was more expensive but good. It is also a jazz club weekends. Don’t miss the Museo upstairs. I think you could go there without eating.
Background: this place is my favorite dinner in puebla for many years. that was my first visit since the pandemic. the experience was not what I expected, but it will not stop me from going back. I'm giving a four-star rating... as I've previously known about the place, but yesterday was more of a three-star experience and they could easily be worth five stars with some changes. my experience yesterday: I reserved in advance, just to be sure. I dropped my wife and then parked the car. when I came to the restaurant, they sat on a very small table (the plates are big and we were not comfortable with the room). this table was just outside the kitchen and was loud. there were only four tables occupied by this spacious place. they should have put us somewhere. waiter: very polite, but not knowing about the courts, and he was clear and urged to get our order and then unnecessarily interrupted various times. the waiter did not tell us that she chiles en nogada (it is a seasonal dish and is typical to celebrate the Mexican independence). it was not on the menu; my wife would have preferred it and ordered it if she had known it. I asked for black pfeffer and they brought a small dish of allspice. I said to the waiter and he then brought a mill and that was too embarrassing. it is not common that the restaurants have black pfeffer on the table, as the locals generally do not use it. but they must have some and I remember the previous experience that they have made it available earlier. there was no manager or maitre d’ in sight or to speak. food: the artichokes and Portobello removers were very good. the salads were simply arranged; on one of them was the serrano sink too dry and on the zesar the dressur was too thick, but tasty. the bone marrow was good. one of us had a birthday that they kindly brought a free piece of cake and played the “mañanitas”. brot: the waiter did not bring us brot and butter until we asked. when he did, it had not been heated. hints and tips: if you visit puebla you should go here. this is a very interesting place because of the architecture and history. the main restaurant is the terrace of this colonial structure with a dach that is open that allows weather. in the rear part is a bar and an open terrace. both are good for a drink or coffee. in the front there is also a sandwich shop for easier departures. there is also a small museum in the upper floor. there is a lot of options on the menu and this is a good place to eat typical poblano. parking is available on Wednesday. live music: they also have a monthly live music calendar.
