The Stone Inn - Hayton

There is no designated parking available, but some street parking can be found nearby. The food is served on the upper level of the dining room. We both ordered the beef rennet, and the beef was a generous portion that melted in our mouths. We will definitely be coming back.

We had a really nice and affordable dinner. There was a small mix-up when my wife's nachos were served with double cream instead of sour cream, and she ended up pouring it over the nachos, which made me chuckle. The staff were very apologetic and quickly offered to serve her a new starter so she could enjoy it with us. I was excited to see banoffee pie (oh my!) and pecan pie (wait, what?!) on the menu, and I couldn't help but get thrilled about pavlova (oh dear god, yes!). Unfortunately, they weren't listed on the physical menu when we arrived, which made me a bit sad. However, the chef was willing to whip up a strawberry clay dessert from scratch, even if it wasn't on the menu. The service was excellent, and the staff were very accommodating. Plus, the local tap ale was quite good!

Great local pub its the heart of the village warm and welcoming, food is served on certain days only so check beforehand. The stone is the centre of a beer festival for three days leading up to the May bank holiday, its a favourite with the local community and it has a barbecue and music.

Traditional boozer set in a picturesque village. Staff were friendly and beer well kept. A lovely spot. Keep your eye out for the biggest leeks you've ever seen!
