Update on 8/27/24: The place was extremely crowded, and it took an eternity to get our drinks—about an hour and a half to receive a second round. Our tabs arrived without even being asked for, and I had to chase someone down to get another drink after our meal. The food was just okay; I split a Reuben and didn’t really like it—should have just stuck with the BLT! On the bright side, our waitress was amazing, and I really appreciated her efforts. She was doing her best to accommodate guests, but it seems like the restaurant struggles to keep up with demand and staffing, possibly due to not tracking trends over the past year. There didn’t seem to be enough bartenders or waitstaff present. Everyone I interacted with was friendly, but there were minor issues that could easily be fixed to enhance the experience. However, their Mango Margaritas were definitely a highlight! The photos are from the lobby.
Lunch selection seemed pretty good. Fish and chips was very good. Hand breaded as stated, filling and tasty. The fish and chips was four stars. Everything else was rated at three stars. Service was alright. Televisions for sports seemed constricted and hard to watch from where we were. I asked our table why would anyone have a television located above our seating like this? . Prices were a little high compared to other establishments. Generally $17-18 for a burger. Some burger prices were a little higher. Fish and chips is $22. They do have nachos. They were plentiful and tasted alright. The nachos came with an abundant amount of different sauces. Half the establishment seemed to be a liquor store. Tap beer was $4 a pint. Pints are as large as they have. Bathrooms were clean. The Edge was not busy upon our arrival. Very few people...maybe one other couple at best, unless there were more people seated outside that we did not see.
I just called to let the restaurant know that I had a group of 11 coming. Victoria answered the phone and then transferred me to the hostess. When the hostess picked up, she simply said, “Yeah, there’s no way we’re gonna do that.” She didn’t even give her name and just referred to herself as “the hostess.” I wasn’t even offered the option to sit at different tables; I was just trying to be courteous by giving them a heads-up about our arrival. We’re in Hamilton for two nights, and now they’ve lost our business. This conversation took place at 5 PM, and the restaurant is open until 11. I wasn’t even asked what time we were planning to come. EDIT: The Higher Ground Brewery down the street was busy but still managed to accommodate us. I highly recommend taking your business there instead.
Was seated and then ignored for 15 min. Last straw was table of elderly patrons seated across from us who immediately got service. Prices are pretty high for bar food. Went to DQ and got better service than here.
