フィードバックを提供するI've been coming to this place since I was in high school fifteen years ago. It was one of my favourite spots. I'd go every year for my birthday dinner, we'd get take out often, I'd hype this place to my friends. schnitzel in Munich was just as good as what you'd get here, it felt authentic and a good value.I know at some point ownership changed and that's life, but since then it's been a slow decline in quality to now. Maybe it's my fault for ordering take out instead of dining in, but even back then the take away was fantastic. But they've stopped the bread service with your order, the take out menu cut back a lot, and then today I just got my schnitzel and wow, what a disappointment.Pounded so thin the meat was like eating leather. The breading was off and it was like the schnitzel was just coated in flour. The potatoes were bland as all hell, under cooked, not a bit of salt or any real seasoning. What was once my favourite meal I could get in the city has just made me so sad ? I'm sure I'll hit it up again to give a chance and hope maybe I got a fluke, but this was a huge oof after a few years of okayish schnitzel, which for years was the best schnitzel I'd ever had. And I love schnitzel.
I want to say that my family has been going to this restaurant since the 70’s. It has been our absolute go to for every birthday in our family. We were never, ever disappointed. Since the new ownership it has gone downhill in so many ways. This is my second negative review. I have had issues with the gentleman that runs it because we would be a party of 12 and he would not seat us till everyone was there so even though we were only waiting for one person if a large group came they would get the free table and we were left to wait for the next large table. Ridiculous.Last night I took my husband there for his Father’s Day dinner. He really loves schnitzel. I ordered the Schnitzel on a Kaiser it comes with a side, soup has always been a side but not anymore.I then overheard another table ask for a second basket of bread and they were told “no” they are no longer allowed to do that. I later inquired and learned this new rule is because the owner has to pay full price for a loaf of bread so no more extra bread, again Ridiculous. It is no longer our family restaurant of choice. I took my husband because of his love schnitzel but I think in the future I will find a new restaurant. I am so truly saddened by how much The Blackforest has gone downhill since it was bought out.We won’t even discuss the ageism lawsuit they lost a few years back. You really should be ashamed at your pettiness.
Food was delicious, service was emaculate. Over great experienceVegetarian options: Not many vegetarian options here
What a gem hidden away in downtown Hamilton. The food was excellent and well portioned. If you love schnitzel you much try this place. I of course had red cabbage and spetzle as a side. Thanks to Deborah for the excellent service. Sorry but I was too busy eating and forgot to take photos. Next time
We've been going for many years when we wanted good, satisfying German food; never a disappointment.
