フィードバックを提供するI ordered the tantan ramen, and there was so much szechuan peppercorn used that it basically tasted like the noodles were swimming in a baking soda mixture. When I talked to the waitress about it, she told me that it's supposed to taste like that. If you order this, don't bother asking for water or a beer because the szechuan flavour is so strong that it altered the taste of everything for the worse.I get that this is a Chinese/Japanese restaurant, but I would hope that the customer service would be more "Canadian." The waitress was not at all interested in offering me an alternative. I'd clearly only had a bite or two. I guess I'm just used to restaurant employees wanting to make the customer happy. When I said that I didn't want the ramen and asked for the bill the waitress said, "You can pay and leave then." This is the main reason I am writing this review. I've never felt so unwelcome in my life. I didn't ask for an alternative; I didn't ask to not pay. However, any other restaurant might have asked me if I wanted something else off the menu, or at least been polite about my disappointment instead of with outright rudeness. I will never, ever go back to this restaurant again.
Never had authentic ramen before so this must be eat. Unique taste. This place is packed! The line outside says it all. It's like a NY restaurant! Inside is small but did not cramp my style . Menu is focused on the basics. The kindly lady that directs everything is keeping her cool! Ramen is super yummy! The soup is fantastic and the noodles are homemade to my palate.
They let other customers pass in front of us in the queue. Upon complaining, they said our party was not ready as I was outside parking the car(instead of sitting my husband who waited half an hour and he would have ordered for both us). I tried to explain why half an hour wait and being by-passed was unacceptable but was told by the owner this a ramen shop, they need to make money, they need to survive, they cannot wait!!! My five cents on it: keep the shop open longer hours, do take outs, treat your customers with respect, attract customers above 20 years old, don't try to run your business like you are in a Tsim Sha Tsui back alley. The food is average good and very copious I will spend my money elsewhere.
We got a coupon in the mail. $3 off the buffet. So it was only $10.99.It was excellent. We arrived at 4:30 when the buffet started. Everything was fresh! The waitress was super friendly & we had lots of laughs. She informed us that the owners make their own sauces too. It really makes a difference. The spring rolls, egg rolls, wonton soup, salt & pepper chicken bites are just a few things to name. All were great.Without a doubt we will definitely return !
Saturday and it's 12 noon.Sun is shining but it's bitterly cold as we wait in line for Truly Tasty to open its doors. We shuffle indoors and guided to a table for two. The restaurant fits in a long and narrow space, which makes it quite cozy and surprisingly quiet. We found it warmer sitting at the back, almost across from the kitchen. I ordered the spicy miso ramen and my Mrs ordered the spicy tan tan ramen. I had the chance to sample her tan tan and found it delightful, more ingredients than soup. I enjoyed my spicy miso ramen which had a nice amount of soup with the ramen, pork and bamboo shoots. I wasn't sure what to expect when I read the word spicy on the menu. In this meal, spicy referred to flavour rather than scorching heat that would clear your sinuses. I prefer lots of flavour. Truly Tasty didn't disappoint. Staff were friendly and service was fast, the only downside would be that it's a bit colder when your siting by the entrance. Get there a bit early, be patient, and enjoy your meal.
