フィードバックを提供するVery delicious tonkatsu. There aren’t many other options for food in this area, compared to larger cities of course. Despite that being the case I also think this tonkatsu would compete amongst the best in larger cities. The building is also very nice. I had the 豆腐かつ煮御膳 (tofu katsu-ni gozen). It is their famous tofu and pork katsu in a boiling broth with egg and onion. Very similar to katsu donburi. It was tasty and the side dishes were nice. I was hoping for a bit more of the main katsu dish in terms of portion size though, maybe same with the rice. If I were to go back I would just get the black pork tonkatsu set meal. The portion was much larger and it was incredibly delicious and thick (I got the try some since other people in my group just went for the tonkatsu set meals).
First time trying it, it’s nice! Make sure you come and pick the number ticket earlier! We took the number ticket 40 mins before it opened, and we got Num 7
Great food and one of the only non hotel Japanese restaurants in the area. My boyfriend has a dairy allergy. Despite making a mistake during ordering, they promptly changed the dish and took it very seriously.
I stumbled on this legendary restaurant as I was wandering around Gora. There was a huge lineup outside this restaurant, and they all seemed to be local tourist. I ended up waiting for an hour an a half to get a table, the wait was way too long and unexpected for the number of people I saw but most people would grab their number and just leave and come back later and I might have not stayed for that long if I knew from the beginning. Since there were no English speaking personnel, I just went ahead with it. The food was absolutely amazing, and it was served quickly compared to the wait time. I ordered the famous tofu katsu in a pot with onion and spiced broth, which came with miso soup and some small sides. This was my first time trying this dish, and it was very unique and mind blowingly delicous and comforting. Loved the soft texture and hot broth and onions with the crunchy katsu on the outside. I also had to try the pork katsu as well before leaving this place, which, as I expected, was also very tasty, well cooked, soft and tender and delicious. Will definitely come back if I go back to Hakone, but I will not wait there for more than 45 min max.
Disappointing place The tofu with minced pork is nothing to rave about and a total ripoff. $25 dollars for some tofu, onions, eggs and tiny bits of minced pork? That is a really high price for some really really cheap ordinary ingredients. And how bad is the food? Tastes like your ordinary oyakodon, but your mom can cook it better. Heck, even Nakau and Matsuya can do it better (and way more cheaper). Yes that is how pathetic this dish is. No need to come here and braze the cold and queue long long. Totally not worth it That said, some of the staffs are very attentive and served us very well. Kudos to the staffs, but not the food
