Hewitt's Dairy Bar - HAGERSVILLE

Fantastic ice cream products, has been in business for many many years I remember going there as a kid (I'm 74 now) top qaulity ice cream cones

I had no idea going in, this place would be a total blast from the past! You come in and sit as a group at a long counter. You can see your food being cooked right in front of you. Everything is old school and I’m sure they’ve been doing it this way FOREVER! Menu is nothing special. Place was absolutely packed when we were there so, I must be missing something because the food is average diner food. The sundae was tasty. Staff were extremely young and needed some instructions from a more senior staff member but they seemed to work pretty hard.

If I'm in the area I plan to be hungry for some old fashioned snack bar food. Ice Cream is made on site. Make sure you eat in and enjoy a Milkshake served in the Steel cup right off the mixer.

This place is a stop in time. If you love ice cream this stop is a must on your travels by. When my children were in sports they frequently played in the area or we had to travel by Hewitt's. The whole team would descend on the place and devour their chosen treats. Great fun. In truth it has been a while. If ever out there I will stop by for sure to see if this time they have non dairy options. So sad, I miss their treats.

This ice-cream store is worth a special journey and/or detour. We have been visiting it since the 1960's and always find its authentic country feel of the early 1960' s charming and a delight. Huge selection of luscious country style, always fresh ice creams, cones...More
