The Loungeroom on James - Guildford

Great place to have brekky on an amazing shopping strip in Guildford. A great menu to choose from and a great cup of coffee.

The Loungeroom cafe in Guildford, Western Australia, is a quirky café with brilliant inexpensive food. Watch how you are walking on the inside polished wooden floors - because it is very easy to slip and landing in the lap of other patrons is not a good look.There is seating inside and alfresco with shaded and screened areas on the sidewalk.It closes at 3pm at the weekend - but making time to call in for a late lunch is worth it. I had a lovely seafood chowder - and it was tasty and filling for a winter day. Only one complaint - the hot drinks we orders were very slow to arrive and the waitress had to be reminded that we had not received them.

Visited here after a long cycle for coffee and cake. The service was friendly and the coffee good. The cake, a black cherry ball from the display counter inside, tasted "odd" and on my return home, spent the afternoon throwing up and in the toilet. Therefore, can't recommend eating here.

I thought 'this will be interesting', but was pleasantly surprised. It was a smallish cafe with a nice atmosphere and presentation. Good coffee.. There were 3 separate seating areas - towards the back of the building, the general cafe and undercover roadside. The service was both friendly and helpful.

We called into The Lounge for breakfast this morning, wanting a delicious and quick breakfast near Guildford. We have previously had breakfast at The Lounge and found something interesting and delicious. It would appear there has been a change of management, and a change of approach. Firstly, the menu has been simplified, and honestly, it is not that interesting. Eggs, however you wish them to be cooked, with toast, Eggs Benedict, Muesli and French Toast were offered. My husband ordered Scrambled Eggs on toast, I selected the Eggs Benedict. The cafe was struggling serving coffees to the 6 people who arrived within 10 minutes of us. It appears that there was only one person front of house, and one in the kitchen. Coffees were slow to arrive and we were starting to wonder if we would have to leave before our meals arrived. Once our meals arrived, our disappointment was completed. My husband's eggs were over cooked and toast was cold. My muffins were commercial, the ham from packet, hollandaise tasteless, and spinach appeared to be defrosted from a frozen packet. I am hoping that we visited on a day when the service was not as the management wished, however we will not be rushing back.
