フィードバックを提供するWe asked Elley to repeat the specials, and she patiently helped us discuss our options despite the restaurant quickly filling up. My wife chose the pasta of the day, which was tagliatelle with strips of beef in a caramelized sauce. It was unique (we had never had this dish before) and absolutely delicious. I opted for the fish of the day: oven-baked groper topped with scallops in a flavorful sauce. It was served on a bed of wilted Pak Choy along with oven-cooked potato wedges. This dish was equally delightful. Normally, I don’t eat chips or potatoes, but these were so tasty that I couldn’t resist. Overall, I can confidently say that this meal was the best we’ve had in a long time and the best since arriving in New Zealand. The service was excellent, and at $89 for a meal that included five glasses of wine, it felt like great value. There was nothing to fault, and we would definitely come back.
Our waitress, Ms. Skeats, was warm and very helpful with our menu selections, sharing intriguing local information as well. The chef, who I believe is Ronnie, came out to ensure we were enjoying our meals and showed genuine interest in our response! He took a moment to chat about the west coast, even though we were the last customers on a rainy night. It was clear that the staff was happy and dedicated. We started with the delicious flatbread appetizer, followed by the whitebait pattie, pork with kumara and ginger, and the roast of the day—all of which were generous portions and beautifully prepared and presented. Unfortunately, we had no room for dessert after such large servings, but perhaps we’ll begin with dessert on our next visit.
I had a fantastic meal with three friends; all our dishes were exceptional. The service was excellent as well, with the staff being friendly and welcoming. The atmosphere was warm and inviting. It was definitely worth the trip from Christchurch just for dinner... we will be returning. We truly felt we could have been dining at any top restaurant in the world. Kudos to the chef and the entire team!
Went to this restaurant a few weeks back, with 3 other people. The welcome, service and food were first class. The only complaint I have (and this is distressingly common), is that after the first drink, no one bothered to ask if we would like another. Extra drinks are easy 'add on ' sales. It didn 't prevent us from having another drink, but why should the customer have to ask?
I gave a poor review in error previously. I was thinking of another place sorry : Buccleighs do a very good breakfast and nice mains.<br/ No complaints<br/ <br/
